Ice Out 2023

Who determines the ice out date?

I arrived at the lodge yesterday. Came in from Mungo Bay as the main lake in Kipawa still had ice. There is none at this end of the lake at all. After the wind and rain last night and today I would guess that it will all be gone by the end of the day. However I can speak for the North West arm. Not sure about that end.

I can confirm our neighbours today boated from town to their camp near Alwaki.


They were nice enough to send us a pic of our camp as they boated by.

Ice broke up here, out from Kipawa on April 29 and 30 , looks like the very last of it is gone today .

I just made it to camp. The only ice I see is mixed up with my Wisers.

Looking out towards alwaki and corbeau.
Its super quiet, we have only seen perhaps 3 boats all day.
