Any hunters out there?

I know this is a fishing forum, but just wondering if there are any hunters out there who hunt moose in Canada, have a western hunting trip planned or go whitetail hunting? Deer season is in full swing here in Pa with 8 days to go. No deer here at John and Nancy's house yet. We love canned deer meat. There are so many things that you can do with it. Got a new recipe for chili recently and used the canned deer meat. Fantastic!

I love deer hunting, and our family loves eating venison.  This year I have been fortunate enough to get 3 deer so far and we process them ourselves, the only bummer is I only hunted for 4 hours.  I also made over 30 pounds of sausage; Polish, Italian and Bratwurst.  Next weekend I'll be muzzle loader hunting for 4 days, if I get anymore I'll probably donate it to someone who needs it.

Well Nancy, I am not a hunter but On November 16 (last month) I got a beautiful 10 pointer. The weapon was my 2010 Dakota pick up. The Ohio State Patrol asked me if I wanted it. I declined so supposedly it was going to a food bank. I've been told that I drive like an old man (meaning slower and more carefully), but I never saw it coming, just a blur on a dead run. Good old State Farm paid the $3875.00 bill but my skivvies were not covered! The county in which which I live here in Ohio is always ranked in the top 5 as far as numbers of deer taken.  They're everywhere. That's the 3rd one I've hit in my life, with hundreds of near misses over the years.  Good luck to all you hunters out there. Come to Ohio where there is no need to use bows or guns, just go to and from anywhere at any time of the day and chances are you'll eventually get one. Take care.

You don't get these days back.  Live each day as if it were your last and one day you will be right.

I hunt just as a filler on the fishing off season.
I Have the bow ready at the cottage at all times after October 1.
I went moose hunting for a week.
Saw three moose ( one bull and two cows).
Watched each one of them for 30 minutes before they walked into the bush.
All we had were calf tags ,so no shooting.
I must add that each moose was 25 yards away from me. Close enough to touch.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I just don't take the time to do it, and it's been a while... other than the critters in the yard! But Ty and I both love to shoot, especially the bows off the back deck. Got Ty a compound bow (Diamond Infinite edge) for Christmas and ordered some goodies to go with it through this site on Amazon.

One of my bucket list to do things is go on a moose and or bear hunt someday. I would also love to take the boys on an elk hunt when they get older.

Hi Nancy,

I've been hunting all fall and not paying much attention to this board. Got a 10 pt buck here in PA this year. Never hunted moose in Canada b/c it is always 2 hunters for each tag but you can only get one moose. Also the bull moose seen over the years in Quebec have been on the small side. After 12 years of applying for the Maine lottery I finally drew a tag and harvested a nice bull in September which was 50" wide with good palms. Small in comparison to the Alaskan Yukon moose that are just enormous but good for an Eastern Canada in Maine. Saw four Bulls during the week and three of them were real good ones. It was the rut so they were close and responding well to calling. It was an incredible experience.

@Fishn Deep , do you have any pics to share of your 10 point buck or your fantastic Maine hunting trip? Sounds incredible and not bad on the 10 pointer either.

John and I got skunked this year. First time, although we didn't hunt really hard either.  :(

@Nancy once I master posting photos to this new site I will try to share something.  :)
Or you could PM an email address and I can send that way for a more timely sharing.
