Anyone here ever try fly fishing for walleye or pike early in the season? I am heading to Kipawa end of may and will be mainly spin casting, but figured I would try some fly-fishing as well. Any tips on what flies would work?

Also we are staying near the town of Kipawa, so fishing lac Green and the area. Any tips on where to go?Is it worth it to take the boat to the north side of the lake?

Thanks

Jay Thomas

While I have not fly fished for walleyes or for northern pike, I would guess streamer flies would work. A cursory search found an informative article available at http://weedbed.blog.com/2012/03/walleye-fly-fishing/

Have a great trip. I don't wet a line for walleyes until early August.
