Walleye Maven

We had another good trip this year.

Kipawa Lodge was well maintained as usual, good supply of bait and gas.

The weather was a little fickle, 38 degrees forcasted low for the first night, steady wind and clouds most every day. Some rain on 3 days, but nothing too serious.

Caught most of the walleye on leeches and jigs, between the lodge and Butney's, 18 to 25'.

Great Pike action the first morning, casting crank baits around downed trees. it slowly tapered off by the end of the week.

Only 3 guys this year, we had a fish meal each day, and brought our limit back. Over all this Walleye were a little slow, but it was hard to still fish or cast with the constant wind.

Walleye ran mostly 12 to 16 inches, we took home 18 over 15".

Big pike was 25 1/2". biggest Walleye 19".

Now the wait for next spring begins...............

Thanks for the trip report. I'm living vicariously on trips reports because I don't wet a line until 15 Aug. Sorry to read about the unfavourable conditions.

These trip reports are awesome, except for one thing....they add fuel to the fire of anticipation of getting north myself!
Great report:

@Walleye Maven thanks for sharing. Looking forward to heading north soon!
One more cast...

Interesting; we were just on the other side of Butney that same time and found most of the 'eyes shallow and voracious. We caught a few deeper than 20 fow, but a large majority was under 12 fow. Good thinking on the pike (mental note made for next year).
