Just got back late last night from Bush Country camp, had a great time. Here is the report;
Day 1, got out fishing about 6pm with a late but welcome start. Great looking night but had some issues with some equipment so the rest of my crew moved on without us. Turned out well, 1st walleye about 100' away was 26 1/2", a fine start. Limped thru getting 3 more before cocktail hour (11pm). Water temp at top was cool at 57 degrees.
Day 2, Got up to big winds and lots of rain. We ask Norman the best place to fish, he said in your cabin! We took his advise and played plenty of cards, more food. The winds did slow down for the pm and we went out , 4 boats limited out, lots of walleye for dinner. water temps cooled to 56 degrees.
Day 3, Weather turns to a perfect day, for the beach. Seemed like 80 with little wind. fishing was light. PM came and we had a good night with each boat bringing in 5-8 keepers and a few nice pike.
Day 4 Went to H lake for some day pike fishing and caught a few. PM walleye fishing did it's thing where the fish turned on at 8:30pm or so, light catch but fun. Water temp still low below 60 degrees.
Day 5, Got some more pike during the day, sun still high in the sky. When to Menominee Bay for more great walleye action. the water temp did increase to 63 degrees.  My 15 yr old son hit them hard and his smile was priceless!
Day 6, depart at 7:40am, bummer.
Trip thoughts:
Although the water temps were low it was going up as we were heading out. The lake was "turning over" while we were there which can slow the fishing down a bit for my trip. I have been going to Bush Country Camp for about 10 yrs and the weeds were not grown a much as usual. Seems to me the cool spring has this a bit behind schedule, but not bad. I would think fishing for the next few weeks should be great. Fish now are liking 6-9' and probably will next week as well. We caught plenty of walleye although not as many as last year, a banner yr. The fish look thick and a 15-16" was well worth cleaning. We brought ins a number of big walleye but did not break the 30" mark like last yr, but close!
As for the camp Norman took great care of us as always and the boats are running well.
Till next year tight lines to all and happy fishing.
