Year after year, this board goes dead on Thursday and Fridays.
What is up with everybody.
Here we are Less than six weeks till opening day and these threads are dead.

Business should be booming.
Bins should be pulled out.
Contents empties to take inventory.
Reels should be starting to get re-spooled.
Rods polished up.
Floats checked.
New bobber stops purchased because last years have dried up.
Check the battery stock for the Thill Bobbers

Come on.
Lets keep this board active 24-7

There's not enough members, let alone active members (members with over 100 posts) to keep up 24/7 activity.

I've proposed ideas in the past on how to attract more members as well as get more activity on the forum from existing members, but they were shot down by, if I remember correctly, you.

I know that for me the sports shows over the past few months have got me thinking about summer again and catching up on reading posts since I haven't looked at a message board since November.  Now I am doing exactly what you point out: getting the rods, reels, tackle and the boat in shape, all the while cursing the D*m snow that just does not want to go away in my corner of Southern Ontario.

Yes, the board always needs more active members and I'll admit that I read much more than I contribute so, shame on me.  So, I will start a tipic and see how that goes :)

I concur with Nate's observation. When I checked the membership list today, of 221 members, there are only 16 members with 100 posts or more and 25 members with 50 posts or more (includes the members with >100 posts). I believe a 10% participation rate is more than acceptable. Besides, we all realize that many folks (members and non-members alike) prefer to just read the board rather than post.

I suspect that many members have already occupied themselves with the tasks that RYHBAK described. However, many of them just don't post about their activities.

Uh oh, I've lost track of the time.
I've been way too evolved with crappie fishing, sand bass fishing , respooling reels,  and all the rest for my local lake.  Which just happened to get low enough to launch a boat after being in flood stage of 22 feet above 'normal'.

Thanks for reminding me to start getting my equipment ready for northern fishing this sumner Rhybak.

Here's my wife, from Monday, the 4th of Apr. The first of 3 fishing outing for this week.
I know;  I'm a lucky man to be able to fish liquid water all winter long and my sweet wife enjoys going with me.

I have to applaud you northerners, especially this time of year for living with real cold (not my definition of cold) all these months and looking for ice out. My worthless guess for ice out is may 4th; hope I'm late for your sakes.

My memory says about this time of year, the boards have quieted down.  It should waken soon again.
But we do need more posters.

As we say in Marketing, the addressable market is just really not that big. If you look at the total census of people that visit the area or have some historical tie to it, then remove those that "don't post on forums", remove those that prefer to say little, then filter through those that are just too dang busy...there's not much left. What is left stays fairly active on this board.

I'm glad this board hasn't turned into a dumping ground for weather alerts, people looking for life advice, or a bunch of braggadocios looking for affirmation they're great through a string of "good on 'ya" replies.

Very good points

T-bone, I believe you've hit our active numbers situation spot on.
Thanks for summing it up in terms even I can understand.

I have to admit I get on here a few times a week but don't always post...

I try to take a peek at the board everyday. I don't always read everything, kind of skim through and see if there is anything of interest. I used to be much more gung ho about starting new threads and asking questions than I do now. Between here and the old board any question that I could think of has been answered, although it's very important to keep bringing them up and keep the chatter going. The newest info on here currently is the fishing regulations which may or may not be set in stone for the up coming season yet, other than that until people start setting foot on the lake it's going to be slow. I will be on here living everyday through all the trip reports and have much more to comment about, as will everyone else. This topic is always a good sign because it means the juices are getting flowing again. I just hope I make it up there this year... didn't last year. Life and obligations seem to get in the way right now.

The winter months have been especially down with no ice fishing. The regular people who I would chat with and would check in our camp don't even go up to take their sleds out on the lake much anymore. The fishing ban has taken a lot of the fun out of the winter months on Kipawa.

I guess my situation is that my kids are demanding more of my "free" time and I am not as energetic to get a new thread going like I once was after running to watch them in their school events and functions. I have also had a pond project going on for about 2 years on my property. We decided about a month ago to have an excavator come and dig it out for us. nothing huge, but big enough to fish in. I always wanted to be able to go float in a canoe and drop a line in the water when I am home. my way of bringing Kipawa to my house. I've got the pines and birch trees half in around it, and am trucking in rocks for that canada feel. So my excitement for the night is the pond is 8 inches away from cresting, and flowing into the woods. The middle of it will be 9 feet deep. so if it wasn't rainning here I would be out there. rain is my friend for another day or so...

Brad, I think I can speak for most on here... when you get this pond done you've described.... would love to see it! sounds awesome and like a real nice tranquil retreat in your own yard. - Nate
what are you planning to stock it with? crappie, bass, bluegill?... It would be neat to set up your own ecosystem (fish habitats, spawnig grounds etc... even on a small scale).. select the fish to keep the water as clean as possible etc... sounds like a really fun project.
