A question for the board.  We are leaving for Alwaki in 18 days and have 9 guys traveling (2 more meeting us up there).  Two members of our crew have full sized pickups with rear caps and full bench seats.  Some of the group want to travel in just the 2 trucks as they'll have plenty of room for all the gear, other members think it'll be too crowded for an 11 hour ride (3 men in back seat of one truck) and want to go in 3 vehicles.  No one in the group is over 200lbs.  Do most of you folks travel for comfort or convenience?
Beer got you into this, beer will get you out

11 hours with three guys in backseat, no way! Lol.

Too crowded...go with three vehicles; especially since gas is relatively cheap right now!  We have eight going and taking three vehicles...there's never too much room but there is frequently not enough!
Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

I recommend three vehicles as well.

Just to advocate the other side of things, i say cram in there and have some laughs!

We all have memories of a trip or two where, during the trip, the whole thing seemed like a gong show.
Fishing trips filled with days of unexpected heavy rain (but you go out anyways), canoe trips where there was a head wind of 60km/h all day every day, atv trip where everyone got stuck everywhere and machines had to be fixed in the mud with "primitive tools"....etc etc

We've all been there....but I guarantee you we all look back at those trips and laugh harder about how stupid they were vs the trips where everything went "perfect".
Sometimes the "worst trips" comfort wise, turn out to be the "best trips" in our memories....

600 miles north

I get what Fort wiser is saying, but I would opt for the 3 vehicles as well. We are facing a similar situation this coming weekend. The family is traveling to Torch lake Michigan. It is about a 7-8 hour trip. My oldest daughter wants to drive also and take her sister and follow us. With gas cheap right now, and not having the kids sitting on top of each other, fighting the whole trip, I think I am going to let her drive. There is nothing more frustrating than hearing bickering the whole trip from the kids. Just my 2 cents

600 miles north is where I'd rather be!

Put three guys in back seat and ask them if they're good to go for the distance,  if they're not good to go, take three vehicles.

I have a truck with a large, full size back seat;  I could happily do two back there, but not three for that distance unless they agreed to it first.
