Well, I finally caught up and have time to write a trip report of our 2 weeks at 3 Seasons Camp this year.  We left our house around 4:15 AM on July 30 and made it across the Peace Bridge and through customs by 5:00 AM.  Leaving early is really the ticket to missing traffic.  We stopped at the rest area on the 400 for a bathroom break and gas then on to North Bay for leaches at Trout Lake.  On to Temiscaming for gas, beer, and frozen minnows and misc odds and ends from the IGA, what a nice store and it was only 11:15.  On to Laniel to meet Reggie at the launch since I can't fit 'the kitchen sink' in my boat, then off to camp as we pulled in around 1:00.
Weather the first week was very hot and very dry so Matt's birthday present was a hit, a tube, which he was able to use every day there.

We have been to Campbell bay several times but never to Canal bay so the first week we did a trip down through Fox Narrows, had lunch at picnic island and then took a ride through Canal bay, what a beautiful area.

I caught my 2 largest walleye on this trip, a 25" and a 27" which of course are back swimming to make more walleye, just catching them was fun enough and of course not as good eating as the ones in the slot.

We were never able to do a shore dinner which we always look forward to because of how hot and dry it was, I didn't want to be know for burning down an island.  Instead we were able to enjoy a wonderful pot luck dinner with friends that we met in camp last year which we are looking forward to again next year.

One morning my son and I went out in the morning and had a laugh, we met lunatic the loon.  At first we just thought he was trying to be friendly as he kept diving under the boat and  down to bottom at 15'  which I could see on the fish finder.  Then when we would get a fish on he would chase it and try to catch it, we had a hard time not letting him catch the fish, what a show he put on!

The 2 weeks this year were unforgettable between the weather, fishing, friends, and just being were we love to be.....49 more weeks till next year, but who's counting.

Most walleye were caught on leaches in 15-20 foot of water on a hook split shot or jig, total count was between 160-170 walleye and probably over 100 bass.

nice report, I was at TBL that week and I think I saw your tube a couple of times.  Glad your trip was a success!

Thanks for your report and pictures. Your pictures stimulated memories of my 17 weeks at 3 Seasons Camp. A couple of really nice walleye !!

Great post! We were at Lac Watson that same week and it was, indeed, very hot and dry.  It didn't seem to affect the bite though...We also skipped our traditional shore lunch because of the fear of starting a fire (hot, dry and windy is never a good combination for a fire near a pine and birch forest!)

Jiggin - Despite having fished out for 3 Seasons for the past 19 years I am at a loss at the locations of  Campbell bay ,Canal bay or Fox Narrows . Just for curiosity sake can you elaborate on their locations .I can only presume that they are south of the camp as we fish mid June and always north and north east of the camp.

JigginFool

@ Pike Mike - if you look at the map where Chalets du Huard is Campbell Bay is just past them and goes south, Canal Bay is just south of Campbell Bay but you need to travel south from 3 Season's and turn west at the north point of Fox Island and go through Fox narrows (Fox Camp is on the island), go past Miller's Camp McKenzie and Canal Bay is on the right.  From 3 Seasons Campbell Bay is closer and if you have the time I recommend it, scenery is awesome.

600 miles north

Nice pictures and report Jigginfool! Good to see the little guy look like he was enjoying his time!

Canal bay is a beautiful place! a few years back I jumped of the top of one of those granite cliffs, talk about a rush, and a bruised rear end! LOL the water was 100' deep below the cliff.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

600 miles north is where I'd rather be!

@ 600 miles north - your nuts!! :o :o :o  Maybe it's because I don't like heights but you wouldn't get me on top of a cliff, none the less jump.  It's got to be a rush though.  Our son really does enjoy himself up there, this was his 6th year to Kipawa and the 3rd time for 2 straight weeks and after 2 weeks he still said he didn't want to go home.

Thanks Jiggin .I have explored some of the areas south of the camp but as far as spring fishing have always stuck to the northern areas .I cant remember coming across tall cliffs so I was obviously not in the area you are speaking of .Next year perhaps

Great report with pictures.

Just so everyone is in the know. You speak of climbing the cliffs at Canal Bay....

Well there was a serious accident there on July 22nd. A father climbed one of those cliffs and part of the rock face detached from the cliff and fell on his two teenage boys below. They were both rushed to the hospital with internal and external injuries.

Those cliffs are never secure.
Everybody is a genius.
But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree,
it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

Great report...love the younger ones getting into it. Great pics too....can practically smell the air...

Bad stuff on that accident. I know where those cliffs are but have never been there in person. Note to self...don't climb cliffs in Canal Bay...or just don't climb cliffs.  :o

Embrace every moment...you only get it once

Awesome pics and great report...  fantastic to see the little guy enjoying Kipawa so much!  Congrats on a successful trip.

I have always wanted to visit canal bay and your pictures have definitely made me think about my "day trip destination"  next year.
