Left Fri May 2017, returned May 31st for the annual trip to Lac Kikwissi in the ZEC. Arrived late Fri in time to gear up and head out for the evening bite. 30 sec into the troll picked up first fish...over the slot at 60cm went back. Trolled for another hr with small perch shad rap and picked up 5 more in or below slot (partner nil on jointed rapala). We (he) decided to stop for some jigging a worm. We did very well...all in or below the slot, maybe 25 fish. All other boats in our group did well in the back bay less than 12 FOW.
Day 2 started late head out to the main lake to troll lake trout...nothing. We spent some time trolling around the islands in front of S1 and picked up 2 nice fish - 1 at 52cm, 1 at 62cm. Head out again to the back bay in the evening and did well again, mostly jigging...you should know I would rather troll as I hate worms and like to cover ground AND we catch bigger fish. Have to admit we catch more fish jigging.
Day 3 was rain and high winds. This was a fun day of tomfoolery, beverages and telling lies. Some guys got out.
Day 4 went out on the main lake mid morning and did well with 1 laker and 6 nice pickerel...2 over the slot. That night tried a new spot in the back of bae lagasse and caught 2 nice pike trolling a large perch shad rap. Slow night in the back bay, they were hitting like crazy at dark as we trolled out of the bay through the narrows at 3 to 7 ft.
Day 5 was again good out on the lake. We found a really good mid lake shoal in front of S1 north of the islands towards Serge's that is generally a 6 ft flat that comes right up to the surface in a few spots (unmarked be careful) and drops into 20, 30, 40 quick. Caught 3 pickerel 1 over the slot at 58cm. Caught 1 laker 8lb around the islands. The other guys fish some small islands out from the channel to S3 and do well with laker and bigger pickerel. The wind blew us off the lake by late morning with high winds...it was a dicey run back in with those smaller boats. This trip Imwore a life jacket at all times out on the main lake....do yourself and loved ones a favor and always be safe on the bigger water. I also think it sets a good example to others in your group.
Day 6 was an early start and we immediately packed up, cleaned up and headed back to camp. Some nasty weather and we got caught about 10 min from mainland with heaven rain BUT missed the wind and rollers.
Man was that subway sandwich ever good when we reached temeng. Another great trip with many fish and so many laughs. Note to self - bring ear plugs next year and more batteries for sat radio. Good luck to all those going in later this summer. Oh ya, bugs were bad at times...mostly at night in the cabin trying to sleep. Road was being graded on the way out, very good condition.

Wow, great report.  Thank you.

Sounds like some good catching on the pickerel.
Good to hear that the bush road is in good condition;  I'll be going up it an a couple of months.
