This is pretty much exactly how I fish walleye on Kipawa, I very rarely use live bait and have a high catch rate. Berkley smelt colour works awesome.

Thanks for posting. Would you suspect this technique would work in the spring when the fish tend to bite very soft?

Yes it does, all I use. Keep it moving slow swimming like minnow.
I hate live bait... lol. Well, no reason to buy.
Spring I use in current, just a heavier Jighead. Couple years ago I loaded up a stringer and guys in boat using live bait ever had a fish.

We typically use leaches, but I will be sure to purchase some of of those jigs/plastic minnows and give it a try.

Any spots you would recommend mid-June for Walleye? I will be launching in Kipawa Bay, only been on the lake once last year, so I would appreciate any hot spots.

Oh and we are getting the boat house! Will be fun!!!

I've never fished Kipawa Bay Area. Mid lake, Hunters is basically where I fish.
If you have sonar is key to locate fish, try any rocky point or shoal.

On Kipawa Berkley Powerminnow in smelt colour. Or any good scented plastic black/white works awesome.

Cheapest lead 1/4 oz ball head. No colour. Doesn't make a difference to me, you're just paying for paint. Everyone has a preference though.
