Lake ogascanan

I will be headed to Lake Ogascanan from 6/21-6/28 and staying in one of the island outpost camps.  I have read the trip reports on the other site but just had a couple questions. That said, I primarily target walleye and have never been to Lake Ogascanan before but have fished lac du fils in the ZEC with great success in the past. 

*Is there good walleye fishing near the island outpost camps?
*Worms vs. leeches. I have always used worms as I am primarily a jig guy once I find fish.  Is it worth buying the leeches? I always have the image of John Candy and his family falling asleep in the boat in The Great Outdoors and it kinda creeps me out
*Any other info on Lake O hotspots that would be helpful.

I have been to Ogas 12 times but I have been staying and fishing the northern part of the lake.  Listen to Jer and he will tell you where to fish.  There are a lot of eyes in that part of the lake.  We always use crawlers and no leeches.  We are more into pike but the eyes get some time devoted to them.  This year we are staying at the main camp so it will be a learning trip for me too.  We are there july 19-july 26 so save us some fish, don't catch them all .

Kent sent you a PM. Was only to this lake once 4 or 5 years ago and leeches out fished worms in our group for the week. We didn't spend any time that far south on the lake during our week. Quite a few people on these message boards go there and should have a better data set to draw from.

This will be our 4th consecutive year at lake o.
Great lake, superb outfitter... read the trip reports and ask Ginny questions if you have them. Just like anywhere else in the area, remember its called fishing not catching... some days or years are better than others. Don't forget your bug spray or thermacells (headnets) and be prepared to fish during a mayfly hatch... best of luck and post up a trip report when you get back!
