For those interested, I did the math on a case of beer last week.

Take your advertised price.
Add 5 cents per can for deposit fee.
Add 16% taxes and there is your rough cost.

Last week at stop 101  a case of 60 cans of Coors light out the door was $75.00 and change.

There was a really good deal on a 24 pack of Saporo cans
29.95 plus deposit and taxes= 36 and change.
Excellent price.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Yes, I alway buy in Quebec, after I can get what I can at the border.  Ontario Beer Store, way way to high

Greg

Yep, Ontario taxes are WAYYY too high...  I bought a 28 pack of Budweiser in bottles today at the neighbourhood beer store in Orleans (east Ottawa) and paid $42.50.   But hey, I got a set of the free Budweiser headphones with it!

To pay that price for Coor's Light seems criminal...it's hardly beer. Saporo...from Japan? OK.

Well I guess at $1.25/can for Coor's and $1.50/can for Saporo may be right, but hardly what I'd call an excellent price. Here at home...Budweiser less than $.90/can...Labatt Blue just under that. But that's U.S. $$$...so I guess it's all about the same.

I remember an old quote from my Uncle Ernie (Marco's dad...God rest his soul)...way back mid/late 70s. Standing in The Beer Store in Bobcaygeon and the old boys were debating whether to get Oktoberfest, 50/50, O'Keefes, or Molson Brador. Him simply stated, "We're in Canada to drink Brador, so get the Brador." Guess they were going for high octane per bottle. Those old boys would drink about 3 or 4 and be blasted. Terrible stuff.

Four weeks from this moment we'll be just getting on the 400 North. Whoooooo.....can't wait.
Embrace every moment...you only get it once

T-Bone...I think we had an exchange about pigeon Lake  muskie fishing way back.LOL could have been in the beer store with you . Dad was a Crown Royal fan but always bought a case of O'keefe or Labatts 50 for us to work on . As to the price discussion today , the IGA had Molson Canadian on sale , something like 2 24 cases for 58.00 Canadian. add the tax (and I think deposit ) and it was still below the list price in Ontario. Seems the other prices, as promised by others here, were pretty good.
So many lures and so little time.

Agreed the price is way too high but Quebec beer depending on where the water source comes from will taste different than Ontario (same brand).  Coors Light out west is definitely different than Ontario.

Strictly my opinion but Canadian Beer is superior versus some US brands.

Alcohol content is one but just find the taste is a little off.

This weekend I grabbed box of 48 Bud Light cans at Stop 102 = $62 out the door.

Greg

I went to Costco in Gatineau yesterday and picked up 2 cases of 60 cans of Budweiser - each 60 case was $68.49 + $3 deposit (which is $1.19 a beer).

...10 more sleeps...

Go to the Temiscaming IGA web site and see their prices.
