Hey everyone!
Had a great time on Kipawa last summer out of Laniel, but looking to change up our location. I’m looking to rent a cottage/house at the Kipawa end of the lake for the first week of July 2020. The closer to Grindstone Lake, the better. There will be three of us, and I’ll be bringing my own boat. Not looking to break the bank, just want comfortable and clean accommodations. Need full-time hydro to charge trolling batteries.

If you have any info, ideas or leads, feel free to respond here, email me, or text at (705) 528-4634.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sean - are you looking for an outfitter or private cottage.

I believe miwapanee lodge). Has an outpost cottage in Grindstone (T-bone - you rented this 3 or 4 years ago didn't you?)

Kipawa lodge is also fairly close.

Look for the points of interest Google map which hodgey built and identified all the land marks and lodges and cottages - great resource for maybe finding what you are looking for.

Let us know what you find and how you do - welcome to the board.

Thanks for the welcome Greg.

I think we’re mostly interested in a private cottage, as we seem to get more for our $, since we don’t want the full American plan at a lodge.

I’ll check out Hodgey’s map...sounds like a great resource.

Great forum and site guys, thanks for any info you can provide!

No problem.

There are many lodges which just offer the cottage (at a per/person charge) ... bring your own food (not an american plan).

Example would be Alwaki ... it is in the central area of the lake and where I stay... but a long way from Grindstone.  I am really not sure what Lodges (if any) are down towards Grindstone.

I've only been down to the Grindstone end of the lake once, and that was just on a tour-day...  if I can ask, what is drawing you to Grindstone?  ...not a negative comment/question - just curious, I would love to fish every corner of the lake some day.

Highly recommend Kipawa Lodge. Clean cabins, good docks, and Wayne and Barb are excellent hosts. The fishing there is great, and you can always find a sheltered bay to fish in when the wind picks up. We bring our own food so we're not on a time schedule. You don't have to go with the American plan. There might also be some private cabins for rent in Mungo Bay.

Thanks Greg, thanks Rico for both replies.

I’ll check out KL today Rico.

Greg, I struggled to get on any real numbers of ‘eyes near Laniel last summer, and somebody said try Grindstone end. The fishing was outstanding in that end for keeper/eaters, so with my limited knowledge of the lake I’d like to make that the home base region, and work out from there. At least I know we’d be on fish whenever we want. Everything seemed to work, everywhere we tried once we got there.

Thanks everybody!

Its too bad you didn't do well at the Laniel end.  I fish there all summer and have no problem catching lots you just need to know the spots like anywhere else
