Better late than never I guess ?? Had a great week with our "Coca Cola crew from the Hammer".The weather was good for the most part with some heavy heavy rains a few days. Very cool nights and warm -hot day time temps .The bugs were hot but manageable . The house flies released by the ministry were an added annoyance but still not horrible as they didn't bite . The affect of the forest tent caterpillars was obvious throughout the forested areas with many treed areas looking like mid winter .Surprisingly ,despite a late spring ,the surface water temp was 70' .I wasn't expecting that . During the week we had success finding eyes but never really "killed them" . Always came back with a few but never seemed to find a concentrated number. We jigged and backed rolled using only crawlers hitting numerous past fishing "hot spots" . We had a few feeds and all took home their limit . We had 1 8lber as the weeks big fish but caught many larger fish that were just within the slot limit . Overall much larger fish .The camp , as has been the norm for 20 previous years , was in splendid shape with Reg giving his usual excellent service .Water level was up about 1.5 feet from norm . The mayfly hatch had just begun at the end of our week .My son and I had the extreme pleasure of watching a second year bear cub swimming across one of the many channels mid day. All in all another great week in heaven

Another great trip report - everyone is having some great success this year with consistent feedback that the fish are larger (lots in the slot!).

Congrats Pike Mike!

Thanks for your report. I spent 17 weeks fishing out of 3 Seasons Camp - so it's good to read trip reports from that area of the lake.

Thanks for the report...can't be disappointed with that all in all. Interesting on the 'bigger fish'...seems to be a consistent theme across reports. Can't wait to get there...

Thanks again...

Tks for the report. Like you say, a week in heaven.

As for the flies, contrary to popular lore they are not released by the government, but are a natural population explosion brought on by peak years of tent caterpillar populations. They are a parasitic fly that feeds on the cocoons of the caterpillars. It's just nature taking care of things. A couple of quick links here.
