A bit late on this report,  but here goes.  Much like Oarin (Gary), the fishing started out pretty slow with the weather systems that were rolling through , but picked up nicely towards the end of our week.  One of the highlights of the trip did happen on day 3 during the slow times.  Night 3, my son and I headed out to an old standby spot and anchored up. I put a leech on for him, and on his first cast (before I could rig up), his bobber goes down.  He fights it for a good bit, and lands a 70+ cm walleye.  6 lb. test on an ultralite. Not bad for a 9 year old, and his first walleye  haha.  Unfortunately, it was the only fish caught that night.   The fishing did get better in the next few days, and a few nights later we landed 24 in an hour and and half.

Overall, it was a great trip! We got to meet up with Gary (great guy), and had a great time talking and watching my son shoot flies with the Bug-A-Salt.  I had the time of my life being the "guide", and getting outfished by a 9 year old.  He kept a little journal of the trip, complete with a day by day fish count for each of us. Of course, he was quick to let me know how many more fish he caught.  He also caught two 5 lb. smallmouths in a row on our last night.

Slip bobber rigs worked great for him.  A little odd for this time of year, we got most of the walleyes in 12-16 ft.  Leeches from Pronature were very good.    If I can figure it out, I'll try to post some pics.

Hi Mike. Nice report. I'm glad you guys had a good time. Did your son earn his A-Salt Rifle by baiting his own leech?

Here's how I do pictures.
Down load pictures from your camera disk to your computer.
Go to www.presize.com. Choose picture and go to custom. Make it 850 horizontal, leave vertical blank, then save to disk.

To post the pictures go to the tinypic on the Kipawa site. Hit choose file and click on downloads on the left hand side of the screen. Choose your picture from the downloads then hit upload now and then post. Hope it works for you. Have a great school year and hope to see you guys in 2 years. Gary.

Thanks Gary.  We look forward to meeting up again.  There could be a Bug-A-Salt under the tree this year!
