The photo with all of the snow on the roof is my cousins cabin @ Turtle chutes. Picture is courtesy of Bill B. His cabin is next door.

That's a lot of snow load. A couple of weeks ago, I paid three young whipper snappers to remove the snow from my lower roof (it was about 5 feet deep).

So Wayne what route do they take to get there? Sledding must be pretty rough with all that snow.

Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Hey Smitty, According to Bill he has tree line in place from Kipawa to camp. If you stay on the trail it's OK. I haven't been in yet. Planning a trip after the Toronto Sports Show next week. Looks like rain coming in Thursday, hopefully all that snow will slide off the roofs before something caves in. Yikes!!

It's that time of year where you reorganize the tackle box, inspect every lure and switch out hooks or sharpen them, check the batteries, check and oil the reels. Look at the line.

I have one old pike dvd from the late 80s...I put that on and do an afternoon of getting stuff ready. Also I pack...one bag for cold fishing, one for warm fishing. So once you do all that you have to go to the fishing store. Then about this time I try to plan the major trip of the year...where and with who? Then you gotta scout out the lake...and if it is a lake you have been to, consider spots you didn't really fish last time. Check the maps...check google satellite.

Once you do all that go south for a week in the sun and some inshore fishing to tide you over!

Chiaro - couldn't have said it any better even down to the inshore fishing trip - had one scheduled for yesterday but canceled due to a couple guys sick - looking to reschedule for next week

I have been getting antsy myself. It has been a long winter. But sitting here in Southern Ontario looking out the window, the snow is almost gone, temps above freezing and the birds are very active today. Spring like weather cant be far.

Like Chiaro I have been going over all my fishing gear. I pulled it all out to the garage, gets me semi-outdoors. Mulling over what needs replacing, upgrading or simply day dreaming of how I will fish at Kipawa. Every year its the same, what different lures do I take for how we are going to fish, and we always end up jigging. Tried and true and always much success. Maybe if we had a longer trip we would try more things, but gotta make the most of it while we are there.

I take a very large tackle box and only need a small tray. But as someone said on here before, and I have always subscribed to the same idea, I would rather take something and not use it than not take it and need it. As long as we have the room for it, why not.
Cheers, Ron

Better to look at it than look for it.
