Great time...saw a lot of different weather and the lake in various types of dress from glass flat, to 3-foot rollers, to gentle ripples, to chaotic waves. They said, "walleye spawn is done", but probably not. Males were still milking though females we caught were "thin" so probably dropped their eggs already; the fish hadn't made it very far up the lake from Red Pine etc. toward Alwaki. Fishing was a learning curve for us, but we made some progress over the 4-days we were there. Caught some nice 'eyes...only one (if I recall correctly) below the slot...quite a few in the slot...and a handful over the slot. Largest was a 24" caught jigging in ~8 fow...Mattie got a bonus lake trout while jigging for 'eyes. No skeeters yet, black flies hatched but not biting as of 9AM yesterday morning when we pulled out of Kipawa. Again, great time...would do it again in a minute. Will post full report with pics when I have a few minutes to rub together...likely next week.

Nice to see you made it back.
As long as you enjoyed, that's all that matters.

Good to hear your trip went well T-Bone...we leave tomorrow morning for our week at 4 am for noon arrival..hopefully be at Alwaki by 2pm.
Weather looks not too bad...good to hear the bugs aren't crazy yet but that can change in a day or two.

I came home from camp today, the blackflies were just starting to be active.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Glad you had a good trip TBone and Mattie.

BTW-not to hijack your thread but 4 of us fished Fri and Sat evening past May 31-June1.
In the same spot 14-30 FOW the walleye were on fire and....
while jigging, we also caught a 24" LT and a 3 lbs fall fish....weird uh!

The black flies are out and the may flies are hatching.
Everybody is a genius.
But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree,
it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

I had to look up what a Fall fish was ::)

LOL so did I!
Didn't realize they were part of the minnow family either.
