I decide yesterday to take off work today and go  walleye fishing, The forecast for Lake Erie looked perfect .  I pre-arranged  last night with my son-in-law, that he was supposed to meet me at my house no later than 4 AM. Fast forward to 4 AM today, no son-in-law. 4:05AM, no son-in-law. 4:15 AM, no son-in-law law. I call his phone, no answer. I call my daughters phone, no answer.

So I sit a while longer and remember I have a fresh cup of coffee sitting in my yeti mug, forgetting how good the yeti is at holding heat, I take a swig and spray it all over the inside of my truck, because it’s nuclear hot.I thought my face was going to melt off. I  use boiling water in a French press to make coffee and that was 10 minutes earlier.

I am mop up the mess in my truck and Decide since son-in-law‘s not here, to drive over to his house. I knock on the door a light comes on  and he answers the door in his jams  and apologizes for being late, It’s now 4:30 AM. We’re on the road, things are beginning to look up, though my mouth is still burning. We get to the public ramp and we are one of the first people to get in line to put in the water. We launch and head out the channel and into the lake. I begin to accelerate out of the channel and get a minute or two in and the motor dies. After reading a post here recently about fouled spark plugs I thought maybe that was my issue. Not meant to be, it’s a broken fuel line. A tiny bit of panic begins to filter In, But then I realize, we are not that far from shore, and I have a trolling motor.  I had just recently charged the battery and checked it over and it was working fine. Drop the trolling motor, hit the pedal and it is dead as a door nail. More panic enters. So now what? On Lake Erie, in the dark, no engine, and no paddle.

Stress level now near maximum, I tell my son-in-law to drop anchor. I sip on some of my previous scalding hot coffee and regroup. I come up an idea to try to hold the broken fuel line together and try to start the motor. Bingo, motor runs although not well, and allows us to limp it into dock. There was just a few gallons of gas leaking out, but we made it back. Gezzzz

We load the boat back up, at home I park it  in the garage, get back in truck and I make it to work 10 minutes early.

Walleye Rock!

Sorry to hear about your trouble, hopefully I didn't start some bad mojo for the members on the site this year with my motor issues.  Glad you made it back.

OH MAN! Glad you didn't get any further out and that you made it back safe and it will be a cheap fix :)
