I personally have not but youtube has a few nice videos.

I have never found the need for it.
I'm not that high tech to worry about actual mapping as apposed to what is on the machine
it all works for me.
you will like the side scan if it is one of your options

I own a 95sv and a 55sv

Welcome to the site
One thing you have to realize is that this site is made up of 90% Americans.
Hodgey1 is looking in the US .
Most units sold in the US come with US mapping only where here in Canada, our units are sold with Canadian mapping.

Although Radioworld is a great place to buy our equipment, it doesn't really help Hodgey1 in his quest.

Hey @Chumy77 , thanks for the tip. I actually went to Radio World's web site to buy that unit. That was a good price with our current exchange rate. I added it to my Cart and went to check out and it wouldn't let me setup a account as a US resident????? Oh well, the taxes would have probably been a killer anyhow . I then googled that model and found it on sale at Cabelas with the US maps, a Garmin Echomap Plus 73sv. regularly $749 USD/$997 CAD on sale for $499 USD/$664 CAD. I hit the buy button  ::) my wife deserves the best in fishing electronics, don't you all think so? ???  ;D

Thanks everyone for the input. I just celebrated my birthday Sunday and received some $ and I figured if it comes soon enough I could possibly have it ready to go for my next Kipawa trip starting Aug 30. I ultimately decided on the Garmin due to me being very familiar with their interface and I thought the price was sweet to boot. I will be using the Quickdraw system, which can be shared, so I will be open to sharing data with anyone with a compatible device.

I just found a nice Garmin GPS/Fishfinder on sale for $499.00 was $749.  Its has preloaded US maps of lakes...…... Not CAD

It brings up a new problem. Do I buy a unit with pre-loaded US lake maps or do I get the one with Canadian maps loaded? UGH! I kinda would like both, since I fish both.... Frickin-Chicken Technology. Looks like I would need one or the other purchased separately for another $149 USD.

Only money right? :(

Update...…….

I just received an email from Cabela's updating my order...Arg!..... It shows the lures I ordered "Thanks OZ" some spoons and sticks for Laker fishing, being shipped and arriving by Monday. At the bottom it shows my order for my Garmin as being canceled with zero explaination????? WTF. I just emailed their CS dept. now waiting for the why... Dang, I really was looking forward to installing it next week.

I wish I could say I'm surprised, I'm not sure how cabela's in U.S is but I regularily get the we have no stock and they have stopped ordering them.  Sorry to hear Hodgey.

I just got the Garmin echo map 75sv. (putting it in next time I go up). It's got the mapdraw so I can share maps from my end of the lake. The base map doesn't show some hazards , I'm gonna update those. I'll edit out all my "secret spots" lol. Gonna be fun playing with it.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

I have just finished my third and very frustrating discussion with Cabela’s customer service rep. It’s a long and convoluted story, but ultimately they have made a weak attempt to make it right after much time on the phone and two different customer service representatives.

They cancelled my order because they ran out of stock and they claim no ability to backorder? Even though I see the Identical unit showing in Cabela's stock today at the now, increased price of $749.00. Which is the price the unit I ordered was before being on sale, with the same model#?

Each unit was a Garmin model 73sv with US Lakevu maps and transducer with same capabilities. The CS Rep contended they were completely different Units, because their part #'s were different. The on sale unit part #010-01897-01 and not on sale #010-01897-05. I had to call Garmin to verify what Cabela’s was telling me was correct, that there is two different part #'s for identical units. Garmin customer service representative, basically told me that the part numbers were for identical units with a different Part #transducers that had to be modified due to a lawsuit. The unit that Cabela’s had on sale and sold me was a pre law suit unit.

So Cabelas fix/shut up and go away, was to discount the post lawsuit unit $129. So, I now have another Garmin 73sv coming, just having to pay more....Geezzzz. $620 USD instead of the $499 yesterday. Geezz

Why should I be upset paying another $121 for the same unit? Oh, but I did get that nifty part number change with a side of no improvments, that should help make the increased cost sting less. ???

Hey @puckster_guy  , That is the identical unit I have on the way, except yours will have Canadian maps preloaded.

I hope to possibly have mine installed in time for my Aug 30 departure. If I do, I will share the QuickDraw data on the Garmin share site. I looked at the share site and it appears someone has posted some Kipawa data. I think it was information for the area between Lake Audoin and Grant Pass.
