Hello Folks

New to the board as a poster but a long time lurker

I am interested in a quick trip to Kipawa sometime next summer.  It would be myself and my daughter who is 10.  She loves to fish but is definitely action orientated.  I live in the Mississauga, Ontario area so its not to much of a drive to get to Kipwawa
I know there are many lodge options but I am more interested in area of the lake - ideally an area that also has a good concentration of bass and even small pike - that way when the walleye bite isn't off we have other options (I believe lake trout is also an option but in my experience also not a numbers thing).

Any help or opinions appreciated
Thanks

Welcome Andrew...

My 2 cents... my kids loved going to Alwaki lodge as a kids (central area of the lake) - when you are not fishing, there is lots of swimming and they have paddle boats and canoes and there are a couple of sandy beachy areas not to far away (depending if you bring your own boat and what speed you can move at).  As an adult now, my son is back in to our yearly "guys" trip and we look forward to it all year.

Pulling up on an island and exploring the island is also a great mid-day activity.

As far as fishing bass, traditionally, they have been in the north end of the lake, so a bit of a hike to actively fish them if you are staying at Alwaki.  That being said, the bass population has been moving south more and more each year and we have caught (at least) one or two bass a year each last year.

Other activities include exploring the lake (Canal bay, or the old church).  Again, this depends on your boat and speed you can move at.  Pack a cooler, lots of gas and enjoy a day ride.  There is a thread on key areas of the lake to visit.

Check out all the trip reports for other ideas, locations, lodges and fishing hot spots.

Lots of great people on this board to offer any advice or answer questions.

Hi, Andrew. If you're looking for bass Taggart  Bay Lodge has plenty in the area and is an excellent lodge. They also have pike and bass lakes that you'd have access to. The bass lake is a short walking distance from the Lodge cabins. I haven't fished it in years, but it's catch and release and we got small bass on almost every cast. Here's a picture of one caught on the main lac.

Thanks guys
Those all look like interesting options
Will take a look at both lodges websites
Like most kids swimming will be at the top of my daughter's list of things to do.  Above fishing to my chagrin lol
Cheers
