So, its official, my favorite thing to do in the summer "Fish Kipawa" is now officially done. I wont go into the insanity of it all, because it would be nothing more than a useless rant and I've already use up all of my Rant-Away cards.

Here it is, no blanking trip to Kipawa, so what are you doing to replace it ? I know, for most of us south of the boarder, there is no replacement. Please take some time here and let us all know what you are going to do instead, even if it is non fishing related or if you've already done it. We all need something to look forward to, even if your plan is to build a new deck instead.

As for myself, my substitution plans are still in the slow cooker, but I'll throw a Teaser out there: I may be hooking up with some yet unnamed forum members and staying at another unnamed forum members camp and fishing an unnamed lake 8) LOL-LOL........ I hope it all comes together as I desperately need some time away from this, that, it and the other things!

If that plan falls apart, my back-up plan is for my wife and I, to take my motorcycle ride to an unnamed state and ride through the unnamed mountains and visit my unnamed Aunt & Uncle.   ;D ;D Ok, It would be WV and VA and Uncle Bob and Aunt Judy, two beautiful people I don't get to see enough of.

Good Luck Chris

Does that mean you are writing off September?
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Hmm, I felt pretty confidant months ago, that my end of July trip would happen.................. :'(  need I say more............ :-\  I hold out little to no hope now that September will come together. If it were to happen, I would be giddy and be there even with short notice, but the realist that is getting to be more of a curmudgeon everyday that passes, thinks "Don't hold your breath"

You guys should consider Lake of the Woods via the Northwest Angle. I've fished LOTW and it's very similar to Kipawa.
Lots of great walleye.

It's only 17 hours from Erie, Pa.

A very weak substitute to our week at TBL and the Kipawa experience, but a walleye charter on Lake Erie with my son. If by some miracle the border open for Sept. I'm still set for that.

On Thursday, July 9th I gave up all hope for a two week September Watson Lake Cabins trip.  In addition to the closing of the boarder, my passport expired in June and I waited until May to submit my renewal.  The website says to expect significant delays in processing with 1.7 million waiting.  (Last I looked). So......I made reservation at a resort in Northern Wisconsin.  Google says the drive is less than 12 hours from Central Ohio and the deciding factors were that the lake is on Navionics and they have an impressive web site.  Never been there and have spoken to no one who has.  Seems like a quiet place to get away.

My sister has no faith in my ability to put her on fish.  She has found a Casino within 40 miles of the lake.  What Ever!!

@Teach i hope your trip to Wisconsin is a good one, nice back up plan. Please take your daughter again and have her do another video !

@limacharley are those metric hours? :D Only 17 hours.... that was how I used to feel in my 30-40's when I hunted Colorado "27 hrs". Trips that far now have to wait for my retirement, since I would want to do that in 2 separate days.  The 8.5 hrs to Kipawa is at my limit of my behind the wheel time these days as i dig deeper into my 50's. Get older sucks, I used to love to drive at night, now with my glasses I can't.

Hodgey-Its not that far if you bring a friend and share the driving?
3 hours on 3 hours off...?
The fishing is amazing.

In addition to not making our Quebec trip we had a June RV rally and a September Navy reunion cancelled. I'm really hoping that Oct/Nov has some good weather for combination crabbing, salt water fishing and deer hunting trips at our Delaware house. I've told people that it's a beach house in the summer and our southern hunting camp in the fall.

Sorry your plans are all screwed up, but Delaware in the fall sounds awesome!

The fishing is amazing.

I only ask because I begin to feel alive and normal again when I start thinking about a fishing getaway. Is there a particular place @limacharley that you can recommend staying if a person were so inclined to get some desperate folks together for a short notice 17 hour drive?

I stayed in Kenora a few times but you cannot get there with the border closed but you should check out the outfitters on this list:
