Hodgey, I agree with the sentiment here on the board, Lund is certainly in the top tier of fishing boats, however the price does reflect that for sure. I run a Lowe, which I think most would consider in the "middle tier" of fishing boats.... I have a 16'6" (I know you are looking bigger) and I find it to have a very smooth and dry ride even in moderate chop. Mine is an 06' and the all welded hull is holding strong- no leaks what so ever. The 1800 series is 18'10" and typically come in around 10K cheaper than Lunds. Once again, Lunds earn the price tag with their unmatched fit and finish (My dream boat is a Lund Crossover 1775) but I've been more than happy with the quality of my Lowe.

Thanks @WillageD for the insight. I love my Lund, but willing to change brands if necessary to get into the size boat I need.

As a complete unedjucated boat newb I ask...... What if anything is wrong with this boat? I've seen a couple for sale and their price is good?? Would it be a rough lake freindly boat? Is a jet propulsion an issue? Just wondering while I look around for a possible bigger boat. Plus I have always as a motorcycle guy thought of the Yamaha engine as a superior motor.

The Tennessee boys had a guy that brought one of those up to Kipawa a couple times. Looked like a great boat for Kipawa...not so sure about Erie though.

My thoughts on that boat is great to jig from but unable to troll and no place for a kicker.  If you wanted to mount rod holders or down riggers you are drilling into fibreglass.  I don't know enough about them specifically but can't imagine great rod storage.(maybe though).  Electric motor mounting probably an issue also.

I have been boning up on Great Lakes fishing boats as best I can, including the information gleaned here and I think I have a direction. I think I am going to focus on a 18.75'- 21' foot aluminum fishing boat. I think I'm going to take the center console out of the mix. I am going to have to shop used to get into the category of boat I want, preferably a Lund Tyee or Baron, but I am completely open to any reputable brand and would have snapped up the Crestliner had it not gone so quick. So keep your eyes pealed for a boat for me all!  :D

Just found a Lund 1875 Pro IFS for sale  8)

It’s a lot of money  8)

If I sold ALLLLLL of my toys, I could maybe swing it  8)

There’s a nagging side of me saying “ its only 2.25’ longer than what you have”  ???

Because of the wanting dual purpose Kipawa/Lake Erie, should I be patient and wait for a 21’ ? When I look at the newer used prices on those, I nearly fall over, I would need to buy in the 2000-2010 models to be able to afford a Lund that size. I guess I need to be patient and wait for the right boat at the right price and boat selling season is coming soon.

there is more to the boat than 2.25 gain in length
Look at the additional width and depth.
It all adds up to bigger boat with more room.
Look at the rod locker.
Two live wells?
More storage.
Heavier Boat

it all adds up

Still shopping, I need to sit down with the fiance department "boss lady" this weekend and have a serious talk with her. I don't want to spend a ton of money on a boat unless she see herself enjoying it as well when it looks like 30-50 k needs spent to get into the category of boat i would like. She never had fished prior to me dragging her reluctantly to Alwaki 3 years ago. She now is a fishing/leech tossing machine and loves our Sept's in Kipawa. With reitrment 4-7 years off, I see the boat as something we can do together, but thats my retirement fantasy, I need to see what she thinks.

In the mean time, I came across this boat that would be well within my current "No Consult with boss lady price" I know absolutley nothing about Ranger boats. Its a 2012 Ranger Reata 1850 RS fiberglass fish/ski boat. It looks nice, it maybe a craigslist scam? Price seems low?

personally I prefer aluminum but that looks like it'll do the job at a reasonable price. The heavier fiberglass will handle a rough lake Erie well too. Lots of room inside.

Not sure if you want to compare to Canadian $$, but there is another one for sale in Ontario...slightly newer...  This is very similar to my boat and I made a similar move 4 years go - out of the 16 foot aluminium into an almost 19 fiberglass.  Comfortable, smooth, fast, stable... not sure if it helps me catch more fish...  ::)

I don't think the seller has a price identified.

Go figure.... What did my mama teach me? If its too good to be true.... it is! That Ranger is worth probably $40k USD and asking $22k. I emailed for further info and was asked for email address and then never got a reply? Then I emailed for more info on another email account I have and got the same exact reply. I'm guessing its all about collect email addresses? Maybe they can sell such a list? Either way, when I'm King, I'm sending those people to the lion pit after a good week in the rack in the courtyard.

Look at this baby..... Weldcraft? Looks like a tank, maybe just what a guy wanting to fish Lake Erie would need? Looks like its MFG out in Washington state. Anyone here have any knowledge of such a boat?
