Just wondering if there is an official Ministry Map indicating which species of fish are in each lake (primarily lake trout) or is no one ice fishing in Quebec anymore.  Am I correct it is just lakes that have lake trout, closed to ice fishing or is it all lakes.  Getting mixed answers and can't find the regulation on line.  Thanks, and sorry for all the questions.

Hi Hinorth
To my knowledge I don't believe there is a map available from the Quebec Ministry showing fish species in all the lakes in the area. Maybe I am wrong, however there are maps available from the Zec offices and websites, Zec Restigo and Zec Kipawa, showing all of the lakes in the area with the species present in each lake. Yes all lakes that contain lake trout are closed to ice fishing. Hope this helps.

Thanks Wayne, that does help.  There must be a few lakes that don't have lake trout in the Kipawa area that are open for ice fishing? What do you guys do all winter?

https://www.reseauzec.com/carte   Not sure if that link will work but I found something.  It has snows snowflakes on the map of indicating ice fishing lakes.  Also found out it's called white fishing.  Looks like Lac Brennan is one of the closest if in fact this map is up to date or not.  Learning lots.  Trying to educate myself at home and not find out what I cant do by Fish & Game.

yes there are definitely a number of lakes in the close vicinity of kipawa that house only pickerel / pike etc that people ice fish. Generally speaking winters are quiet but peaceful, a great time of year.

I love winters at Kip, quiet and few people around. I'm hoping to get a sled for next winter. A lot of nice lakes close by to fish in winter. I'm going up later in the week for a week or so.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Snow removal, keep the rink going for the kids and sit by the stove and sip coffee LOL

Be nice if Quebec had something like Fish-On-Line.

Puckster, I have way more time in the winter than in the spring / summer, especially since last March.  And I like the tranquility of ice fishing by myself on a back lake, fire going and coffee in hand.  Don't really care if I catch a fish but it's nice to have a line to watch as well the fire. I've been lead to believe that all ice fishing was closed in the area and glad to hear that is not the case. For sure I'd have a rink, but with too much time on my hands in would end up olympic size. Limacharlie, yes even though Fish on line is not 100% accurate, it sure is helpful when thinking about going into a lake that your not sure about.  At least you get some idea about the depth and reported species.  Heard a joke the other day about when a son ask his grandparent what they did prior to computers and internet and the reply was, not sure but you could ask one of your 16 aunts or uncles.

They have this website if you understand French.  It's not very good but sometimes better then nothing.
