I have to do a garbage run into town today. Need some other supplies. I will stop by the cop shop in town to plead my case to go back to Barrie and get my stuff. If I can go and return unencumbered then I'm off to town next monday for a few days with my trailer... I'm rather dreading dealing with the border cops on my return with a trailer load and no other place to go lol.

It was essential the first time after a slight delay...ditto with
having lawyers considered essential. Major things will happen like buying a house, moving, marriages, court cases..etc

Lanielkid.... so they are making their own rules at the border?  From the previous posting from Campkipawa  #1 Quebec exception was "people who have their principal residence there or who have to do maintenance work at their secondary residence;" Just curious as I am planning to go on Monday.  Please keep us updated if you hear anything different.  Thanks

According to some locals up there, yes. Plus, the mayor of Temiscaming said he doesn’t want any cottagers crossing the border. I can’t really get a straight answer, and don’t want to drive all the way from Toronto just to be told to turn around.

This whole situation is quite a mess. It needs to end soon..lol.

Please keep us all advised...
We are looking at entry perhaps this weekend and 5he week before the may long weekend.

Thanks

Here's what I got. I am not nor do I have a Quebec drivers license as I am keeping a Barrie address. Therefore I am still a resident of Ont. I told the cop. I have given up my apt and have no other place to go. He was sympathetic but said I still can't cross. He just had another camp owner in with the same concern but he got the same response. You can leave but you can't come back till this blows over. Emergency visits to camp but you gotta show it's dire before they let you in. Or if they believe you or not. That in a nut shell is the response I got. So it looks like I'm here for a while. I called my son and he can get my stuff so it's no big deal. However I can think of worse places to be stuck. So I guess when trout opens this weekend I can troll for Lakers...

Yeah...sounds dicey. But you're right Puck, there are worse places to "have to" ride out this BS. Always look to the good in anything...and if the Barrie thing is manageable I'd sit back and smile with a cold beer overlooking the lake this evening.

Be safe...and good luck on the lakers. Don't mind saying I'm jealous...  ;)

Témiscamingue border crossing:

Yesterday I spoke with the SQ and was told you can enter Quebec for maintenance purposes on a secondary property, the girl I spoke with asked to not stop at retail/gas etc as a courtesy.  This morning I spoke with the OPP detachment in North Bay, I was told that Ontario residents will be allowed back into Ontario.  So things are still confusing with some above posts.  My plan is to still trek up Monday morning, I'm kinda lucky that if I get hung up I have a buddy in Marten River where I can stash my trailer until things change.

I will update and let everyone know how it goes.

Why even bother taking that chance.

Just wait until May 20 to see what happens.
Lots of driving for nothing is the way I see it.

Campkipawa

Went to camp to complete some maintenance. Had no issue crossing the border.

Interesting 3 neighbours made it into camp this weekend from Ont...

So people are getting through to go to their places? I have a camp in Jawbone Bay.  Would I have an issue?
