Hi all !! I'm kind of helping out my son and a few of his buddies plan a camping trip going out of the town of Kipawa July 1st week. Could I get some advice from you guys that run out of that end of the lake to assist them on getting a great spot to pitch some tents and shore their boats? Any areas that you would like to share that I can pass on to them would be great!!
I think they said they do not want to travel too far from Kipawa....6 miles maybe.

My son and I have been to Kipawa many times together out of the Laniel and Taggart ends over the years, but have never travelled to the other end and explored it. Keep the ideas coming if you will. They appreciate it.

There are lots of camping spots, anybody I have talked to have always said the bugs are beyond bad when trying to camp,  the lake is huge so if you can narrow down an area and how far they want to go.  Not to many camping spots have good parking for boats that I've seen.  Lots of rocky shorelines

There is a small island right out from the main bay at Kipawa, it shows up as Ile Art on google maps.
We used to call it squirrel island and I've heard other locals call it Blueberry island, while it is generally considered a "day trip" type of place, some used to pitch tent here for an overnighter.
It has a decent beach on the south side (easy to pull up a boat on) and a decent flat spot up above......it's also close enough to Kipawa proper that they likely can't get themselves into too much trouble in terms of typical Kipawa rough weather.
Just tell the boys to keep in mind many local use this as a day trip spot so expect to share if other folks happen to come for a quick swim on the beach.

There was also a small clearing out on the west point of Baie du Canard (in front of Baie Pickerel, further east from Ile Art) that could be tented.
The shore is rocky but with some creativity an aluminum boat could be pulled up enough to keep it safe. IF they decide to enter Baie du Canard / Baie Pickerel to fish do so with extereme caution and local direction as this area is full of unmarked rocks / stumps.

No matter where they go be sure they understand this lakes "moods". Always let someone know where they plan to travel, it's an easy lake to get lost on and even easier to get stranded on when unexpected weather rolls in (which can happen in minutes). Much of the lake has limited to no cell service......
Finally, be respectful (don't hog the beach or spot, keep the area clean, etc).
Sorry, not trying to preach, but all it takes is one bad experience for locals to become upset (rightfully so).

Hope they have fun!

Based on a previous post from Limacharlie, I started a chat with Trakmaps about camping sites on Lake Kipawa. Here's a copy of their first response.

Thanks very much for your interest as well as for taking the time to reach out. I've had to step away for just a moment, but I'll gladly show you a sample screenshot around campsites from the product shortly. You'll automatically receive it by email. Please let me know if you have further questions in the meantime.

Might be worth following up with Trakmaps.

I think it's a software app for GPS devices...not sure though.

I have a PDF map I marked-up several years ago for someone out here...looking for it now....but this is only sites I've seen people pitching a tent at...certainly not official.

Back in the early 80's my first two trips to Kipawa were camping. Both times we stayed on that island in the shortcut, the green spot on the left. There was a bigger spot in back of that island where we would see several boats or the pontoon rentals camping. That's the other green spot. It's about 10 miles out but it's right at the hub and we could start trolling for Lakers not too far away.
