Based on SOPFEU website the closest out of control fires to the kipawa regions were fires 377 and 337, both now are considered 'being held'.  Fire 360 is now the closest, which is approximately 450 to 500km away in MRC show of La Valle-de-la-Gatineau.

A good amount of rain fell in the kipawa area yesterday afternoon, evening, and into the night. The upcoming forecast shows significant rain, 30-50mm tomorrow alone. The province has also secured more manpower, enough so that they are now able to target less pressing fires. Hoping for an update soon.

Yes we had a good week as always. Regarding leeches, we buy ours at ProNature in Temiskaming. Pretty sure you can transport worms anywhere these days. You may want to call ProtNature in advance to get them to have them ready. 819-627-9432  80.00 per pound now so not cheap. We use strictly leeches. Either on a jig or with a slip sinker and single hook. Also did use slip bobbers which works well unless boat swings some if on a drop off as it is tough to keep it within a food or so of bottom. Fish were anywhere from 8 fow to 30 fow. Looks like you are good to go for the 17th ! Thankfully they got rain up there. Have a great trip.

Anyone headed out to Dumoine? Any issues getting there?

We leave to drive up tomorrow and then Dumoine Thursday.  Word is all is clear.  Actual we have friends who are there right now    Would have heard from them by now if there was a problem.

Thanks guys for the links, great useful information but was hoping could get some first hand info from someone that is actually in the area now.

Campkipawa

I am in the area currently and the air quality is quite good. Winds play a huge role. East and North East will bring smoke into the area, prevailing west and southwest winds clear it out generally. Warm and calm again today. 👍
