Ok, this is what I have done for adding the French language for our friends who speak French. First of all, as Brad said some of us including myself don't work very hard at understanding their language. In making this addition, I am assuming the French/quebec may be slightly different than French/France??? For what I can currently find and available for this forum, I can only find French with no dialects. I will continue to work on this but am thinking this will help.

For those wanting this forum in French, go to "Profile" in the top menu, beside "Search", then select "Account settings", make sure "Modify Profile" is highlighted right under the ad, under "Name", there is a preferred language box, select French. If you are already a member, you will have to enter your password in the bottom box.

If you have any problems, PM me and I will do what I can to help.

Thank you for your help Nancy!

Merci pour votre aide Nancy!

Hopefully this helps us have more interaction with our friends who live in the area we love to fish each year. Nancy I may be wrong but, the different dialects spoken in french are more of an audible difference heard when speaking the language I believe. Kind of like someone talking with a southern accent in English. My daughter took two years of friend and said that is just harder when learning the language to pick up the audible variance put on words in different areas of french speaking societies. The written words should still be understood to all French speaking people. It would be great to have a french speaking person chime in on whether this is correct or not.

Thanks again, Merci

If you guys went into your profile and changed the language to French, that is the way it will appear all French and no English. To get both languages, @600 miles north, and @NortonJoe, and maybe a couple others that I don't recall right now have copied and pasted their post into Google translator to get the translation and then copied the translation into the post. As of right now I don't know of a way that you can translate it for you and put both languages in your posts just by a click of the button. I can look into that, but don't hold your breath. Miracles can happen. I would like to get a concensus of the board before I put very much time into a project like that.

That is way too much work for me.
I have a hard enough time putting more than 20 words in my posts as it is.

I say what you have done is helpful enough nancy, unless you are really bored some day. Do you think it would be a good idea to copy this post to the sticky so people remember how to change the language in the future if they wish? Thanks for looking into this for us!  :)

Google translate is really very easy to use...just open a seperate window and move back and forth between the two.  I have no idea if it is gramatically perfect but it will help break the language barrier.
