Thanks for the post. I fished Ostaboningue for 8 years and then the cabin we stayed at was sold. I have a couple questions about the access from Camp LaLucarne.
Did you launch at the north end of Ostibaningue or could you launch near your cabin?
Is there a dock at the cabin to fish the water to the south?

Darrin, Here is a post http://kipawa.net/viewtopic.php?t=4005&highlight= report from a trip in 2012 where we stayed and fished the water south of the cabin.  The cabin and boat dock are GREAT!  The boat ramp is where the Bearn Road crosses Kipawa.  For this trip (2014) we used the launched near the cabin.  Just prior to crossing the bridge north of the cabin, there is a path to the left (north) that takes you down to Lake Ostaboningue.   It is tight and we unhooked the boat trailer, turned it around by hand, reconnected to launch the boat.  Johnny Walleye and wvmedic have pictures on some of their older posts of the boat launch at the south end of Lake Ostaboningue.  Hope this helps.

600 miles north

Great report and pics Teach! good luck in your next venture after retirement. To me the word retirement sounds like freedom, and the ability to choose what you want to do each and every day for a change. That doesn't sound too bad to me!

600 miles north is where I'd rather be!

I'm curious why you chose to fish Ostaboningue over Kipawa. Is the fishing not that good at the cabin?

Nice report!

From my experience,  retirement is better than advertised.
