 I've been up to camp twice and my boat is still on the trailer. Going up thursday after work, playing hooky on friday lol first thing thursday?? Boat in the water pack a cooler and go fishing.

Had about a 2 hour troll for Lakers on the 23rd... no luck..wind was really high into the shoreline we wanted to troll, made for extremely tough boat control.. my dad trolled the same shore line for about 45 minutes the week prior and caught and released a 4LB laker.

I know !!!  We're heading up this Friday and was hoping for some advice on location of pickerel and/or depths for Lakers. I presume they'll still be tucked in the back bays but first hand info is always appreciated!!

Fish shallow points in the evening with your slip float set at 3 feet and as tight to shore as possible.

Ok Rhybak, riddle me this....
I can see the benefit of slip bobbering if you are going to fish 8 feet deep in 15ft of water,  easy to set and much easier to cast.
If you are fishing the shore in say only 3 feet of water, why not use a regular old line bobber set to 3 feet deep?

Definitely a lack of trip reports this year - but the facebook sites of camps helps.  10 days and countin till we leave for 3 seasons

I can see the benefit of slip bobbering if you are going to fish 8 feet deep in 15ft of water,  easy to set and much easier to cast.

Your right.
Because during the day you should be fishing 6-7 feet.
Why change the set-up. Just move the bobber stop

Gotcha.  During the day I am more a jig fisherman, or use a drop shot setup.  As is probably true for everyone, I have caught bluegill, bass, crappie, etc. with the old red/white bobber and worm.  Just for old times sake, I might have to give this method a try in the evening in shallow water to add walleye to the list!

Because you are going so early in the season this year, I would concentrate more on trolling a worm harness/leech combination real shallow and slow during the day.
On the edge of dead trees or rocks transitions.
About 20-30 feet behind the boat and 6-7 feet of water on wind blown shorelines.
Purchase a very small drift sock if you have to to slow the boat down.

Been to camp a couple times this year.
Opening weekend every walleye was caught in current.
Was up 28th to 31st, I did very well while rest of group struggled.
Rocky point on inside of back bay, everything was caught on 4" Power Minnow with 1/4oz jighead.
Rest of group mostly used live bait and struggled.
