The exchange rate looks like a good reason to consider changing a one week trip into a two week trip.

   I don't think I'd want a 2 week trip. Ten days maybe, but 2 weeks would be too long for me. I'm not really as die hard a fisherman as many of the site members are. I now have 2 trips, a 7 day in late August and a 5 day in mid July at the TBL outpost  and that works great for me.
   If the exchange rate stays this good I am going to buy much more of our supplies in Temiscaming this year. The new IGA has about everything we need. I'd still bring the rib eyes, the Gulf shrimp,and hot dogs from home, but the rest of the meals we can get there.

Even though we are from Ontario, we still tend to do most of our shopping in Tamiscamingue also.

We lug it from home when we can get everything we need last minute.
Mind you, I can't buy good rye bread locally but I get it fresh just before we leave home.

Last year my son and I bought fresh made rolls at the IGA. Their bread is excellent ! I'm betting everyone has a few things that we think are the best from home and can't be beaten any where else. I mentioned hot dogs. I'm from Upstate NY and our Zweigles, Hoffmans, and Salens are the best! I'd be curious what others think has to be brought from home.

Oarin, good wine, frozen lasagna from Tre Rose, marinated sardines for the charcoal grill, porterhouse steaks. Mmmmm...it's usually good food isn't it, that we pack from home instead of buying up there. Honestly, not sure if it's the setting or the food, some of the best meals I have ever had are on the annual trip.

 Nothing like BBQing and eating in the clean northern air. Everything tastes better. I have charcoal too. I refuse to use propane. charcoal tastes and cooks way better.

About the only thing that our group insists on bringing from home is smoked brisket.  Most everything else is debatable.

PG,not only BBQing and eating in the northern air tastes better,but for some reason the beer seems to go down so much better also !!!  ;) ;)

Last year we brought two chefs with us.
They did not bring anything because A) we told them not to and B) they didn't know the cooking surroundings.
As we were leaving,their minds were going a mile a minute planning the next trip meals.
Somebody might be bringing a suckling pig to cook in the fire pit.
That would be a bonus.

 Now that pig idea sounds awesome. I'm gonna be buildinh a bbq/smoker in the next couple of years at camp. Let ribs and pork shoulder smoulder all day while I'm fishing. Camp is gonna be all about good food, friends and beer. Looking forward to retireing...

You can buy a smoker /BBQ so cheap now a day's its not worth wasting valuable fishing time building one

Very interesting Rhybek...I need to do some more research on this. I would like a unit with a firebox that will take big chunks of wood. I have no shortage of maple and oak to burn up there. I'd also like to burn some fruit(apple,cherry wood) as well for flavour. this is getting interesting. Ideally a charcoal section for standard bbq duty as well. I was gonna replace my weber bbq as well. https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.performersupsup-deluxe-charcoal-grill---22-inch-black.1000813327.html It's similar to this one but I can hook up a propane bottle to it to ignite the charcoal. Then shut off the propane and just cook with charcoal. Oh decisions decisions.
