With 12 police boats on the water system the lake sure has quieted down compared to years ago.

Wow, that seems like an awful lot of enforcement. So is that one ministry guy and one QPP? Do they spend their days on the water stopping boats in the hope of making lots of money to pay for all that? I sure hope not, but I've seen it before.
One of the subtle, yet still significant benefit of fishing in Quebec is being able to have a beer in the boat while fishing. I'm not talking about getting hammered and being a yahoo tearing up the lake, just having a few out fishing with the boys. It's been 12 years now since I last visited Kipawa so I'm sure things have changed. Are the authorities still pretty cool about booze in the boat so long as the driver isn't hammered, but may have had a few? It certainly never used to be an issue for the many years I visited, which started with two years of camping, then Corbeau and Alwaki for many years. For us as the groups of guys got bigger Alwaki was far more conducive to the party atmosphere. Corbeau was more family friendly at the time. Big bonus too is that Carl and Mary would always do up a smoker full of lake trout for our gang and themselves at the same time. This would be like two or three per cabin. Literally picked up smokin hot fresh out the fridge smoker. It was fantastic. Try getting that service even at a 5 star resort now. Even better it was offered for free, that's what kind of hosts Carl and Mary were. Great folks. I miss those days.
That post made me think back to the first time I was visited by la ministre on Kipawa. All they checked us for was to make sure we had a lodge receipt for live minnows. My how things have changed.
Does anyone know if Eric Lindros still owns the Corbeau Lodge property?

12 OPP boats are docked in Gravenhurst, can access Lake Joseph and Lake Rosseau through the locks.
Eric owns Corbeau still, lodge is fully opened up and renovated. Cabins need some TLC.

That is too funny because I may see an OPP boat at my end of Lake Joe once a year.

Only once in six years have I see QPP at my end of the lake. Love it. On GeorgianBay it was almost 5 times a year I was pulled over for "spot checks"  One of the main reasons I stopped fishing there.

We are engaged by them every year...even came into the cabin and checked our freezer last year. Maybe we fit an undesirable profile. Doesn't matter...we always follow the rules...and generally find the conversation to be good.

Yup I follow all the rules and the conversations are always civil and friendly. I just got tired of constantly being "pulled over" I just wanna go fishing and get away from the world.

Tks for that info. Its a great spot for sure. Eric sure lucked out getting that property. Can you imagine having that place as your own personal summer chalet? Only in my wildest dreams lol. Great spot for a lodge with all the traffic through the hub. Maybe not the privacy one would prefer for personal use. It's lodge lights were a welcome beacon one night when we got kinda mixed up for a while. You don't get anywhere very fast out there in a 6hp lol.

As for Corbeau, this got me thinking of the ownership changes over the years. I still have the Corbeau Lodge depth maps we picked up at the seaplane base. That was when the Vaillancourts owned it. Gary and ? maybe. Then they sold it to the Americans. Her name was Judy I think? We stayed there 3 times and then went to Alwaki from then on. Don't know what the story was after that except that I think Carl and Mary's niece bought it from the Americans eventually and it wasn't working right for them as she got sick and then Lindros bought it.
Not sure if I missed anything anything in the timeline. Canuckbass can you confirm this or add to it? Or anyone else? Tks.

I'm not sure of all the timelines, I've only been going up the past three maybe four years. We refer to it as Fish Camp or Eunice Lodge. It is Eric's favourite place, three kids under two years old now so he can't wait for a few years before the kids start coming up.
He does enjoy the privacy of the island, we've had a couple people stop to ask for help or a tow.
