T-Bone. Just an FYI....  Rhybak does fish with a Barbie pole and catches monster fish, but his success is not in the pole but that dang Sponge Bob bobber!  He's a master at Sponge Bob bobber fishing.  In his tell all book "The Secrets of Sponge Bob Bobber Fishing", he confesses, "it's all in the bobber." As far as rods go, when you are as clumsy as I am, I can't afford to use anything but an Ugly Stick. Heck, I've managed to break a few of them too, but then I mostly slip float with a leech so rod sensitivity doesn't matter. Even if I'm jigging or trolling, Ugly Sticks are sensitive enough for me since I'm usually holding the rod in my hands and can tell if a musky or even those lite biting sturgeon hits. My hands are not quite as numb as my feet or other parts....yet. My wife tells me that I've been numb from the neck up for years but I can't really tell.  Maybe she's right.

Figured I would restart this thread and get it back on track
44 days and cant wait for our week at 3 Season's with the Coke Group from the Hammer . I am pretty confident that spring will show up some time soon but if not ......oh well we will have a marvelous time anyway thanks to the sheer beauty of north Kipawa and my BFAM Reg at 3 Seasons!!!!
Nervously awaiting May 3rd when my older son Michael (aka Fred) flies from Toronto  heading into the high Andes interior of Ecuador on a University field biology biodiversity study . "No lights ,no hot water ,lots of poisonous snakes ,insects ,plants and spiders " .Wishing him luck but wishing I was going !!!

I troll for Trout and Pike alone on the lake most of the time.
I let the boaters have the lake during the day.
Morning and evenings the lake is pretty well empty while the rich people are having their cocktails.

Wow, that seems like an awful lot of enforcement. So is that one ministry guy and one QPP? Do they spend their days on the water stopping boats in the hope of making lots of money to pay for all that? I sure hope not, but I've seen it before.
One of the subtle, yet still significant benefit of fishing in Quebec is being able to have a beer in the boat while fishing. I'm not talking about getting hammered and being a yahoo tearing up the lake, just having a few out fishing with the boys. It's been 12 years now since I last visited Kipawa so I'm sure things have changed. Are the authorities still pretty cool about booze in the boat so long as the driver isn't hammered, but may have had a few? It certainly never used to be an issue for the many years I visited, which started with two years of camping, then Corbeau and Alwaki for many years. For us as the groups of guys got bigger Alwaki was far more conducive to the party atmosphere. Corbeau was more family friendly at the time. Big bonus too is that Carl and Mary would always do up a smoker full of lake trout for our gang and themselves at the same time. This would be like two or three per cabin. Literally picked up smokin hot fresh out the fridge smoker. It was fantastic. Try getting that service even at a 5 star resort now. Even better it was offered for free, that's what kind of hosts Carl and Mary were. Great folks. I miss those days.
That post made me think back to the first time I was visited by la ministre on Kipawa. All they checked us for was to make sure we had a lodge receipt for live minnows. My how things have changed.
Does anyone know if Eric Lindros still owns the Corbeau Lodge property?
