Normally a beer drinker only but bringing our son who likes his whiskey and rum.  Will cross border with allotment of beer so getting at duty free not really an option.  Any recommendations on where to stop - IE Ontario, Temiscaming?  Thanks in advance for any help.

Oarin

I think you're better off money wise to bring the liquor and buying the beer in Temiscaming.

If coming from Detroit there is a store once you get into Ontario that I recall is open till 9 pm. In Temiscaming there is also a store but don't recall what time they open. You can check exact location and hours.

Beer and liquor cheaper in Quebec and Wine cheaper in Ontario

RHYBAK

Bring as much Liquor as you can from the U.S.( And leave the left overs for me  ;) ;D)
It will kill you to pay the Canadian price for liquor.
It is still cheaper if they stop you to pay taxes on it.

If you crave Canadian beer.
Buy what you can at Duty Free and buy the rest in Quebec.

If you really have to buy Liquor in Canada, just keep in mine the stores do not open until 10 A.M.
So now it will depend on where you are at that time.

Barrie Exit at Mapleview and turn left at the lights. Drive up a few lights and it will be on your right.( LCBO)
Washago has a big LCBO just at the highway exit.
Huntsville
North Bay
The gas station just before the Quebec Border
Tamiscamingue.

Again....Bring as much as you dare from home.
Even if you don't drink liquor, bring it.

We always buy our liquor at the Duty Free store and the beer in Quebec...definitely buy any beer in Quebec as it is cheaper!

Are you serious.
Quebec Liquor is cheaper than U.S. liquor?????

I find the Quebec liquor is even more expensive than Ontario liquor.
One thing , the Tamiscamingue store is tiny compared to the the big LCBO stores in Ontario.

@RHYBAK I guess I meant to say beer is cheaper in Quebec than Ontario at least that's my recollection...that's why we buy the liquor at the Duty Free.

You can compare liquor prices via Quebec's SAQ - see http://www.saq.com/content/SAQ/en.html and Ontario's LCBO - see http://www.lcbo.com/content/lcbo/en.html#.VzHoDuRq3Jc
The SAQ in Témiscaming is close to the Tem Rose restaurant.

Dépanneur Stop 102, just 70 yards west of the Auberge Canadienne in Témiscaming, usually has some good deals on beer. Their telephone number is 819-627-3190.

Have to agree with Mr3, liquor on average is cheaper in Quebec as well as beer, wine cheaper in Ontario.  I'm not including the US, don't know.
