Reserved my room at the Auberge for Friday June 16

Seriously? I'd rather give my money to charity and sleep on the ground. Or maybe there has been a total renovation of the place since I stayed there last....several years ago. Back then, they were more expensive than all other properties around and quite run-down. Appears they may have lowered their prices since then, so renovation is not likely. Then again...if memory serves me well...I believe I was put-off by the total lack of customer respect by the staff more  than the rooms not being a good value.

Rhybak...you're just a victim of habit. Just like me...always catching more than you...  ::)

125. Sheesh...seems like an eternity away...

Sorry if I made you puke.
We are not fancy guys.
We are just looking for a convenient place to put our heads down and grab a few hours of sleep.
I guess in a way ,we are Creatures of Habit and just keep going to the same place year after year.

We don't need a three or four star room.
We basically don't give a crap.

We sit out side drinking our beverages and shoot the breeze then pass out.
Once your at that stage, does it really matter.

Yeah, I get it. I guess it falls under the rule that I don't support businesses that  have done me wrong.

And don't feed me any line of bull about just being "simple guys". Simple guys paddle a canoe to go fishing. But I get it...in order to make room in the budget for your new rig and all the goodies that you're adding (I'm jealous BTW), you have to cut corners somewhere. Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

Just asking, but are you taking your new boat up to Kipawa this year? With only a 6-hour jaunt, you should...

176,646 minutes....

RHYBAK

Yes the Boat is making it's way to Kipawa .
3.5 hours to North Bay
40 minutes due East to Tamiscamingue
40 Minutes North to Laniel

What is that plate of cardiac a few posts back? Was it poutine with a donut on top covered in gravy? Never had a poutine...I'm told I don't know what I'm missing.
Less than 60 days til we head in to ZEC Kipawa.

Balsams, it's a poutine called an Island Burger. That's a hamburger in the middle with a piece of cheese on top. It's delicious! The Tem Rose has them.

The last time we stayed there they lost our reservation that we made in Jan.  No problem lots of empty rooms.  In the middle of the night they rented our room to someone else and gave him a key to it---------- we were in bed when he came in!  Time to change hotels!

John...if it's only the two of you I'd go with Oarin's suggestion with the Temrose La Petite Auberge or whatever; fairly confident you can't get much more comfortable than that in the area. Last year we stayed at the Au Bercail; same type of place a Auberge Canadienne, better condition and cleaner though...just down the street from Petro Canada station toward Temiscaming. It's only a short walk up the street to a breakfast place, or quick drive back (2 minutes) down to Temrose for breakfast. We also enjoyed staying in North Bay and coming over in the morning, but that's typically more expensive. Good luck!

65 days for Captain Crappie and I.  We will each have a grandson with us so this trip promises to be very memorable.  Now, where to stay on the way up...  ::)
I don't know how to act my age - I have never been this old before!

Check out the Tem Rose. The upper unit is a full suite with 2 bedrooms and a living room and kitchen. The sofas could be sleepers.
