Set out a minnow trap on a rocky shoreline with some dead minnows or walleye remains in it and check it in the morning.
you should have some crayfish ( crawdads) in it.

Or you walk a rocky shoreline with a small minnow net lifting up the rocks and watch for the little buggers swimming away.
Try catching them with the minnow net.

How are the leeches at Pronature? Convenient location for those heading north of Temiscaming. Last time we got leeches at another supplier and they were a bit on the small side. Although you get more individual leeches per pound that way we would prefer if the walleye didn't need their spectacles on to see them!
