LOL!  Wow.  This conversation went all over the place.  Any particular spoon, size, color preferred more than others?

LOL... It's called cabin fever.

Everybody is itching at the bone to get back to Kipawa for their annual trip.

I understand that.  I have 171 days.  My list of things to buy is growing everyday.

Word of advice.

Make your list , but don't buy anything yet.
Come time for your trip , you'll review your list and realize there is a lot of crap on that list that you will not need.

I have so much tackle, I don't need anything.  Well, maybe some jigs and new line.  But it is so much fun to buy fishing gear.

LOL don't I know it. I have a suitcase for a tacklebox and use the same handful of lures and jigs over and over again. Just before my first trip I load up on some more.
Ya gotta Love it!!!!

I've had good luck trolling the shallower bays in late May, early June with frozen herring.  Very similar rigging to the lead core except no gang and 20 pound test line.  After that I jig the herring in the deeper channels but it doesn't seem to be as productive as the early season troll.

Hello! first time on this forum and will be my second time on Kipawa in early June. Any hot spots for lakers or are they anywhere on the lake?

Hi Mike and welcome to the board.
Great question but it would help to narrow the answer down if we knew what part of the lake you fish.
The lake is very big.

One hint though.
The lake trout will be found in the vicinity of the deep water they normally live in.

haha good point! I will launch in Kipawa Bay, Kipawa Outpost I believe. We fished for walleye last year all the way up to where Lindros has his place (red roof camps).

We don't venture to far from the island, I've got a few trout jigging,, other guys troll and troll and troll... I find I get them a lot quicker jigging. A sonar helps.

Great, thanks for this.
