Great report.  Thank you!
Sounds like you all had a good catchs!
I also appreciate the road conditions report (Uh Oh; could be rough when we go in).

I've been checked a couple of times.
First was in Ontario.  Language wasn't a problem there. They checked licenses, flipped pages in a book to the ZEC we had been in, then measured and counted. Only thing they said was after this, keep ice chest easier to pull out.
Other time was at the end of the Maniwaki road where it went from gravel to asphalt.  Language was cumbersome but it went well otherwise. Knowing what they wanted, we opened back of truck, pulled ice chest out (lesson learned previous year), handed them licenses and stepped back.  They measured and counted and then waved us on.
I didn't see any dogs either time.

We've never been checked at the lake or cabin (yet!).

The past 3 yrs they have been set up at the Bridge before you cross - I have also seen them at the 4 corners near the Auberge.

Years ago when we camped at Grassy - they checked us in the boat and they also came in on 4 wheelers to our camp and had dogs go thru all our stuff - very through - which was fine because we were all legal.

The coolest check we had was on the Gouin reservoir about 15 yrs ago - we were boating back to the camp and a ministry float plane landed in front of us - they checked our catch and let us go on our way - it was pretty cool to see the plane come out of the sky and taxi up beside us.

I don't mind them checking us - I feel like the money we pay for our license is being put to good use and they actually care about there fishery

Ontario on the other hand - well that's another story.

Nice report...thanks for the post. Sounds like you had a pretty successful trip by any standard.

We get checked almost every year while on the water; past couple years they've come into the cabin to check what we have there. Usually a pleasant experience. I've never seen a 'check' at the border crossing in Temiscaming though. Then again, I throw everything back so none of it really would compromise me in any way. The guys that keep and eat fish follow the rules to the letter though...
