If any of you are crossing into Canada in the Buffalo/Niagara area, I found the link below very helpful as it show the wait times at all four bridges.

http://www.niagarafallsbridges.com/

Also, they have an automated phone system that will give you the same information that can help decide which bridge to use.

1-800-715-6722 option 4

FYI: Whirlpool bridge only takes a Nexus Card for toll.

Hodgey,

Not sure how many times you would cross into Canada / USD in a year but I have had the NEXUS card for three years and it is worth it's weight in gold.

$50.00 for 5 years and little to no waiting at the border.

Strongly recommend to it those crossing even once a year.

Could make or break a fishing trip depending on the border wait

How does the NEXUS card work?

If one person in vehicle has it and the others don't, does it still help?

I'm just guessing, but I would think all occupants would have to have the Nexus card.

We never have to wait on the Lewiston-Queenston bridge going in but it can get ugly on way home. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the tip.
Hope it helps! I figured once you get a hour away, maybe it would be useful to check and see Wait times at Lewiston and the Peace bridge particularly.

Understood on all occupants would probably need it.  What I was thinking it wold be.

I appreciate the wait times link too; thanks.

Hodgey1, I know it is probably in one of these threads but when is your trip? we leave this coming Friday , 6/9 at 8 or so. usually hit the peace bridge in the 11 am range .MOST years the wait on the Canadian side is reasonably short, 15 min or so. Have never tried the other bridges though . the big wait is usually on the Saturday afternoon coming back to the US .
So many lures and so little time.

Not until the end of July, Can't wait! In the past I've always taken the Peace bridge, but will consider the Lewiston as a option if wait times would happen to be bad at Peace.

All passengers in the vehicle require the card you can also use it for clearance checks airports etc

Plenty of times there is 50 car deep or better line up at the border and I just cruise right past to the nexus line

kipawa4

What do you do with the card? Everyone in the car, hold it up for a camera or scanner?  This stuff is new to me. Tech savy I am not!  Of course I see the people going through toll booths with EZ Pass on the interstates.  Same deal or not?

Greg

There is a special line for all vehicles where all occupants have a Nexus card... if you happen to go into this line without every occupant having a Nexus card, expect a good inspection.

crackers42

I would think the pass on the interstate is just like the 407 in Ontario whereas you have pre-paid.  The Nexus card basically says you have nothing to hide and security clearance has already been performed on you.  If really comes down to how much time you want to save at the border and is the cost for 5 years worth the $50.00

I cross about 5 - 6 times a year and will never be without it again.

All passengers in the car crossing require one in order to use that line.

SgtCrabby

Confirmed all occupants would need the card.

Rats,  we'll be in the longer lines still.
Oh well;   what I sorta expected.
