I change my mono lines at minimum every year, if it's a year I fish more often it will be a couple times a year.

As a side note, I picked up a few Berkley Fluorocarbon spools for this year. To my surprise, all 3 were rotten. I email Berkley and they are replacing them no questions asked!! I'm impressed.

Needless to say, they kept a customer!
