Oarin, I'm supposed  to pick my leeches up on Thursday from pronature. If I have a problem, and if I get reception, I'll shoot you  msg.
P.S.  Despite the long drive, I can't wait to get there!

Thanks Mike. Safe travels and good luck on the fish.

I pre-ordered two pounds of leeches from ProNature in Temiscaming last week.  When I got there there no leeches were set aside for me.  I gave the guy my name a second time, still no leeches.  I told him I called and pre-ordered  my leeches weeks prior... he said "did you pay for them".  I said "$#%#@# no I didn't pay for them because you didn't ask and said nothing of the sort."  They acted like it was all good and it was no problem over the phone.  I hope whoever walked in off the street that Saturday with cash in hand enjoyed the two pounds of leeches I ordered.  What a fiasco!  Lesson learned for sure.
That's a shame. He told me I had to pay over the phone or they would not be reserved for me. Yet when I told the girl when I got there she acted like I was speaking French and there were no leeches available. Oh wait if I spoke French she probably would have understood me.
I restated I paid over the phone and had them reserved. They guy working stepped in and got them for me.

As stated previously I will only go with Kipawa Bait and Corina in the future. But it seems she said there is a shortage also.

There is definitely an issue this year. Spoke with Corina, Pronature and Billy Bobs in North Bay. All same story - due to lack of rain, difficult to get leeches. May be a night crawler only year. All did say call 1 week before your trip and they would be able to let you know availability.

We will be in Kipawa a week from today, any updates on Leech availability?

We picked up our leeches on Saturday at the Pronature. They were healthy and waiting for us in the cooler. They were a little smaller than normal, but worked fine.

What are you doing home already Oarin? How was your trip?

T-Bone, that was our week. We left on Saturday and returned on Friday. We do a 5 day and Yves lets us come in a day early. The report will be coming soon.

Another possible source for leeches, I have not tried them, we always go with Corina at Kipawa bait, but I did check with North Bay Outfitters earlier this year as a back up and got this from them, note that this was for our end of May start of June trip:

Yes, we usually have leeches this time of the year. Please contact us about two weeks before the trip. Our phone number is 705 840 0273

FYI for anyone heading up this week.

I made contact with Pronature and Kipawa bait this week and both said leeches should be available this coming weekend.

I stopped by Pronature last Friday July 20 and bought a lb. of leeches.  They were of very poor quality and size.  There were even a couple of horse leeches included.  I ended up having to put 2 and 3 leeches. Inspect them before you buy.

Riverrat

you can also buy leeches near where the float planes are on Trout Lake
