Partial results from our 2018 water quality testing can be viewed online via water rangers

https://app.waterrangers.ca/groups/kipawa-lake-preservation-society

Full results will be provided soon in a written report on our website. Several lake areas (Red Pine, Grindstone, Edwards Narrows, Lac Audoin and Turtle) were tested in 2019 for metals - these results aren't available on water rangers but will be available in our report.

If interested in assisting with water testing we will soon be selecting our volunteers for the 2019 season. Equipment in the form of a small kit with a secchi disc, pH, conductivity, and total dissolved solids meter as well as instructions on its use will be provided. Prior experience is an asset, however the main focus will be on finding volunteers that can reliably sample ideally weekly or at a minimum monthly. Volunteers would be required to attend a short training session near the end of May/beginning of June and are responsible for their own transportation (must have access to and be comfortable operating a boat and motor) and safety while out sampling. Volunteers are responsible for maintaining the equipment in good working condition and would conduct sampling without supervision. Please note: this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity that would require a minimum commitment of a few hours per month to a few hours per week.

If interested please email savekipawalake@gmail.com and provide your name, lake area you are able/willing to sample, prior experience (if applicable) and the level of commitment you are comfortable with (eg. weekly, bi-weekly or monthly sampling) as well as the time of year you are available (eg. May - October, July - September, etc.).
