Well, spring is certainly here, we only have a little snow left in the yard (shady spots).

I don't have my boat back, but maybe next weekend if its nice.

I bought a new reel yesterday that was $30 off in the Cabelas flyer (I did the Cabelas curb side pickup - one of the few times I have been out of the house in 4 weeks).  I came home and put the reel on a rod I bought on sale in February and spooled it and cast a rubber practice lure in the front yard for 30 minutes - got some strange looks from neighbours but who cares.

For anyone looking for some new gear or lures, etc.   www.tackledepot.ca  (a Canadian web site with some decent prices and today and tomorrow is 20% off with a code "EASTER20" at checkout - pretty good selection of just about everything and if you spend $100+, free shipping).

Wishing everyone a happy Easter and stay safe!

Hi Greg,

My wife and I have been hunkered down here in Orleans for 3 weeks now. We limit our trips to resupply groceries to the bare minimum. To help maintain our sanity, we stay in visual contact with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandsons via Alexa. They are staying in place at their condo in Mont Tremblant.

Just in passing, I purchased a new reel 2 weeks ago from a Quebec store, Latulippe (https://latulippe.com/en/our-stores/). A Shimano Curado 200 HGK, typically priced at $249.99 was on sale for $187.50. It was delivered last Thursday. Buying new fishing gear helps with maintaining my sanity too. ;)

Happy Easter to you and all other board members.

Jay

Staying sane by going on walks every day and doing/prepping for vehicle maintenance items... and gratefully still working (haven't been furloughed yet, fingers crossed).
One more cast...

I used the curbside pickup at Cabela's on Saturday also.  Bought new Garmin echomap plus 95sv and boat is getting picked up Thurday from the heated facility I rent space in every year.  So other than getting things of my wifes to do list before fishing starts I'll be rigging up the new unit.

How cool. I bought the smaller unit the 75v last year. The map draw feature is a dream come true. I found so many new spots, shoals, sand bars etc and some new hazards lol. I haven't even touched the side view yet.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Firewood and home schooling on this end....keep the chin up everyone.
One thing I've learned for certain;
Although we've gotten out occasionally in the past few summers for the odd fish, I think once this covid situation is behind us, it's time to step up fishing efforts big time.
