Good evening all!

Well, as you see, the forum is backup and running.  Some technical issues occurred on or around April 14th and some repairs were done, however, some configuration items related to the site security were not perfect... which caused issues with people logging on or posting any content.

After some information exchange, some email conversations regarding the history of what happened and lots of questions and answers back and forth, thanks to @Fort Wisers, he was able to quickly identify the issue, resolve it and we are now back in business.

HOORAAYYY!

The world is a challenging place lately and we need our communication about our favourite place on earth!   I know many have concerns about their ability to cross the USA/Canadian border in order to get to your summer vacation on Kipawa - I can only hope progress with "flattening the curve" occurs and you get your opportunity to visit.  Even though I am in Ontario only 4.5 hours away from the Kipawa dock, I had to move my summer vacation from Kipawa to a lake in Ontario due to my group requiring solid plans so annual vacations can be scheduled at their workplace, HOWEVER, I quickly booked a long weekend in September at Alwaki Lodge.  I encourage you to consider finding time to visit your favourite outfitter later in the summer or fall (reschedule your time from summer to late summer or fall) in case the borders open up.  They need our support!

Special acknowledgement to Nancy who ran the site for years and years and sometimes at much anxiety, frustration and expense - I know the issues in April took some wind out of your sails, but you need to know how much KFF has become part of so many peoples daily lives.  Here is to many more years of participation on KFF!!   And thanks for trusting me to attempt to resolve it (...I am not experienced in web-site hosting so definitely was not cut out for the job but Brent was!!  Brent - thanks for reaching out, offering and utilizing your expertise).

Please post what you have been up to lately - lets reignite the conversation and kick things off!!   Me? I am working from home and fishing the Ottawa river on weekends - that is keeping me sane.  It has been a busy couple of (COVID) months for me with two kids moving and work has been crazy busy.  I have less than four weeks until my week off and fishing vacation - which I am looking forward to immensely.

Also, if you have any ideas for the site now that we are back in business, let me know.

SUPER BIG CHEERS TO EVERYONE - KFF is back.

I’ve been busy with life and work stuff, while trying to stay sane In this new normal. I am very anxious to get to Kipawa as scheduled in late July, but as all know, July 21 doesn’t leave much cushion when I leave the 25th, that’s if it does open. I am not that optimistic unfortunately.

I replaced the water pump in my boat, as a PM and hoping to get it into Lake Erie soon for some walleye fishing and blow the cobwebs out. Time races by me it seems, i never feel like I have the time to do the things I really want to do.

The great news is my oldest daughter and her husband are expecting their second child in July which will make 4 grandchildren for me, which is the best parts of getting older. Love each of them dearly and have been missing the closeness we had prior to all this Covid crap-hole-a.

In closing, I’m appreciative of this forum, the people here and hope everyone is doing ok! I have missed it greatly as I have made real good friends here.

WOOHOO! It's so nice seeing the site back up and running and seeing everyone posting again!
@Greg is being modest, the fix was a team effort for sure.

As already mentioned, the real credit goes to Nancy and a handful of members (who came from the old forum)
who had the courage and dedication to start up this new forum a number of years ago.
Credit continues to them, Greg and all the moderators who take care of running the board on a daily basis.
Thanks folks, the site was certainly missed by many as it was down!

To answer Greg's question specifically about what we've been doing to keep busy during covid times:
On our end the biggest thing has been adjusting to having the girls home all day long and handling "home schooling".
We've recently made a couple of trips to camp and will be heading there again this weekend and then through-out the summer.
Lots of projects and odds and ends have been mixed into the above to ensure there has been never a dull moment lol.
During the more heavily restricted times, my wife and I learned to make sourdough bread (ok who am I kidding that part was all her) as well as scratch make pasta.
The kids, of course, joined us every step of the way!

We hope everyone on this board, and their families have been staying happy, healthy and busy over the last few months.

Brent and the family

p.s. I just realized, if the site actually went down April 14, I think that makes me the "last poster"......does that mean my last post broke KFF?!?!
I will blame the picture I posted of Wayne's main lodge (back when he was building it), no mere computer could handle such a great view!

Thanks everyone, I really missed it!

Good job getting KFF back up. I think we may all need it this summer as we wish we were up there. I should actually be there this week.

With the border closure extension that about wipes our plans out. Beach vacation in August and kids back to school in September.

For anyone that can make it up please post very detailed trip reports so the US guys can imagine being there.

Netman

Glad the site is up and running again, and another thanks to all who made that happen!

We are keeping our fingers crossed that we can make it up this year in early Aug. but realistically I think it is a long shot at this point.
I agree with -BigChief - keep the post coming.

Glad the site is running again, I've missed it!  We have been to camp a couple of times since the Quebec/Ontario border reopened. We are able to go door to door without stopping. Feeling very lucky that we are able to do so. Thank you for fixing this..  :)

Great to see the site back up!! Hello everyone and I hope y'all are staying safe!

Wonderful news! Just booked in for a week in early august and already can't wait. Thanks to everyone for getting the site back in order, much appreciated.

Yeoman's jobs getting here back up and operational.... I thought we were down hard, excellent.

Doing nothing. Texas is a hot mess express with regards to Rona. Most people down here don't wear masks despite it being at its highest levels.... so we work, go to the grocery store, pickup food to support local businesses and have been golfing twice. That's it, that's the list besides walking around the neighborhood.  I've been figuring out my telescope as well finally which was my Christmas present from 2018 from my ole lady....

On a positive note, I landed a new job with a more stable company which starts 29 June.
One more cast...

Wow.   Thanks guys for bringing this all back to life for so many people !  We were scheduled to go to Dumoine July 1 but ......    first time in 27 years I will not be making the trip.

Glad to see this site is back in business!  Thanks to all that worked to make it happen.

We should have been there this past week as well.   If the latest revised border opening holds true, we'll be there for 2 weeks in August.  In this crazy world, the peacefulness of Kipawa would surely welcomed.
