Not sure if this would work for your situation but have you considered purchasing an older beater pontoon boat for hauling all the materials needed for the camp renovations.

Sounds like a dream come true, big time congrats on having your patience finally pay off. The hub is by far my favorite area of the lake as well. Google Earth still shows old roads coming out to Sunnyside from the north and also have a place out at the point called Le Boiler (the boiler). Is that part of the original farmstead? Then again Google maps shows Kelly Bay as Baie Diot and Baie a Joe.
One thing for sure, it will be a labour of love.

Not sure but i always thought the boiler was the small island in front. The next bigger island has a  friends camp on it where we will be staying in a few weeks while we clear some brush. Over by that side we saw an old sunnyside sign that we hope to refurbish.

The 'boiler' is an actual cast iron boiler...left over from when they were clearing the land that faces the main lake in the 40s, I believe. Sits right on the water. I have a picture of that Lac Sunnyside sign hanging in my home. Those signs are spread throughout the system...also as your entering Lac Hunter, etc. and points south.

When you reference "the other side", I get confused. Is your cabin the one that sits on the point facing toward Alwaki Lodge...basically right on the main lake? I'm not aware of another cabin on that piece of land referenced as "Sunnyside".

Congrats Stu and Erin. I can't wait to see it. Just so you know I will work for beer and steak... ;) :D
Post pictures  :)

Lol..hey my friend..can't wait to get you up past lake grindstone. You could stop at Lucs place on the way. Its a nice ride with lots of good fishing spots along the way. I can always stop in and show you the way..or you may want to take your time and explore around. All my pics are over the 128kb limit for this site...how do i post them?

If you store your pics on the imgur site you can edit them there and then post here with a simple copy/paste.

Iwe are the one right on the lake..right at sunnyside. I think the signs were made long after the original farm for paddlers etc. We still want to repaint it. We have seen them all over as well. I heard there was an old boiler by our camp but didnt think it was the same thing as on the map...very cool..can't wait to get out and explore the lot some more. Must ne lots of old relics about...not just myself..probably a ton of horseshoes. We pulled out a couple right at the dock. The 2 closest camps to us belong to friends, gus and dixie. If i had the map set with north at about 12oclock to the left of our place near the boiler is a small island..the next bigger one beside it is where we will be staying while we fix the cabin up....which is pretty much just a shell in need of some tlc.

Hey Stu,
The owners of the Home Hardware at the 4 way stop dock their pontoon boat on the same property as I do.
I believe they have a very large pontoon barge to haul HH supplies up to camps on the lake.
Can't remember their names but I'm sure you could talk to them at the store.

I have a pontoon barge myself that I've used to haul supplies to my camp but I leave from the end of Windy Lake road.
I've even floated my compact tractor across the lake a couple of times.

Very nice Knuckles, once it's all cleaned up it's a perfect and beautiful location

I see some weed whacking in your future Stu.

The windows and doors look to be in great shape. I've never ventured into that area. Now I have a reason to.

Man Knuckles... you have no idea how these pictures get my blood pumping.

For the last 15 years, fishing in front of your new place and driving past it a couple dozen times every trip up there and now I get to look at it online!  I might even make one of these pics my desktop background!   and I encourage you to document your progress with pictures and post please!

Super congratulations again... and as LimaCharley says... you have some weed-whacking in your future!!! haha.

I'll be there in 31 days... for a 4 day long weekend. Hope to run into you!

Greg
