The Hodge hopes to be on Kipawa in July. Hopefully you're talking 2021but the way our knuckleheads here in Canada are
going I'd be more optimistic for late fall 2021 or spring 2022.

RHYBAK

Whatever

I'll be on Kipawa for three trips in June regardless if borders are open or closed

Yeah, yeah....we know already. Sheesh.  >:(

Just got word that Ohio is opening up vaccination to those 50+ on Thursday...and I'll be getting in line right away. Should be fully-vaccinated by early-April and ready to get going with life again.

Braggart!  :(

Where I work for years, we have a standard practice of betting what we call the biscuit and making the biscuit bet. It stems from a time when McDonald’s used to offer a breakfast sandwich that was a piece of sausage on a biscuit and could be bought for one American dollar. Having said that I am betting a biscuit I will get at least one trip in this year to Kipawa.

Listen to today’s Fresh Air on NPR “Code Breaker” it gives me great hope, that it all going to ok! I’ll bet a biscuit on that also.

I certainly hope for you guys, that you do get to come to Canada and see Kipawa this year!

However, I am having a sneaking suspicion that it will no longer be based on if YOU (Americans) receive your vaccine, rather, the criteria for opening the boarders will be based on our (Canadian) vaccine status... the Canadian government may not be in a position to open any boarders yet.

So far, at the end of last week, we are only about 4% of the population has been vaccinated (health care workers, people in remote northern communities, and those over 80 years of age were just starting).  The % vaccinated has risen slowly (much criticism in the media) - about 1% or 1.5% of population per week... lets see, mid July is about 16 to 18 weeks away - being generous, if we go up 2% per week, we are still not even 50% of population vaccinated.  Not sure what they refer to as herd-immunity.

Not trying to be a downer... again... I certainly hope you will be able to make it to Kipawa.

But they’re not addressing the “whole” population. Subtract those 25 (probably 30) and under... and those that just won’t get it (estimates at 40% or more)... not a really big number. Who knows...?

I agree - there are so many unknowns... and so much can change in 3-4 months.

Fingers crossed for us all.

Cheers,  Greg

Ohio announced today vaccinations will be open to those 16 years old and older effective 3/29. Essentially, if you live in Ohio and want one you can get one right away.

C'mon Canada!!! Let's get it going already!!!

Unfortunately, we are headed in the wrong direction - again.  With increased positive test numbers, including discovery of more variants, Ottawa looks to be headed from Orange back to RED zone classification any minute.

Well...hopefully the vaccine availability will improve for our CDN friends soon as we'll have more shots to give than people that want them very soon.

And this is encouraging...though not Canada, maybe your leadership will take notice of this type of 'planning' to get travel and tourism underway again by summer.

Hey Folks
Well it seems there is a small light at the end of the tunnel. Our Government just announced another 30 day closure of the U.S border. Even though things are getting worse in Ontario and we are approaching  or some area's  in a  3rd wave our friends in the U.S are sending Canada 1.5 million doses of the vaccine. Great news! Thanks, Guys much appreciated! Here's hoping to a normal 2022.

I sense a bit of sarcasm in that. Let’s just hope for a viable ‘21. We all want to get back to normal...
