There are exceptions for cottage owners and other items deemed essential, both from the Ontario covid rules and Quebec covid rules.

Quebec rules regarding travel:

Travel between regions and cities
Travel are prohibited to regions at Level 2â€"Early Warning (yellow zones) and to the Côte-Nord and Abitibi-Témiscamingue regions.

An exception is, however, made for essential travel by the following people:

- people who have their principal residence there or who have to do maintenance work at their secondary residence;
- people transporting goods in these territories;
- people who need to travel for compassionate reasons;
- people who need to travel to obtain care or services required by their health or to provide care or services to a person who requires them;
- people who work, practice their profession or attend an educational institution there;
- people who must go there in order to comply with an order contained in a court judgment or to exercise parental custody or access rights contained in an agreement;
- federal public service employees whose place of work is in one of these territories and whose presence is required in their workplace by the employer;
- people who transport goods transiting through Québec
- A person who is in a region at the orange or red alert level for a reason other than those listed above and who must return to their principal residence in a region at the green or yellow alert level must self-isolate for 14 days.

Ontario rules regarding travel:

Multiple residences and moving:

19.  Travelling to another residence of the individual if,

i.  the individual intends to be at the residence for less than 24 hours and is attending for one of the purposes set out in this Order, or

ii.  the individual intends to reside at the residence for at least 14 days.

20.  Travelling between the homes of parents, guardians or caregivers, if the individual is under their care.

21.  Making arrangements to purchase or sell a residence or to begin or end a residential lease.

22.  Moving residences.

Yet another lockdown and people are getting more and more defiant. I get people are frustrated but if people in the GTA and other major cities continue to not care about lowering cases (mass gatherings/protest) then the whole province will lose another year. Annual trip to Alwaki June 5th is in real trouble at this point.

Toronto doesn't think the healthcare system is in trouble, yet Stratford hospital ICU is full of Toronto patients. I hope these restrictions work because they're extreme, and can't get much worse. I can't even camp on crown land to get away and fish at this point. It's a joke.

RHYBAK

I hear you
My first trip was scheduled for June 3 to 6
I was going to launch my boat at the landing in Laniel and travel back and forth to the Temrose in town.

That is in limbo at the moment

I had a friend cross this morning. He had no problems crossing at Temiscaming. I plan on going up Thursday to check on my camp in Laniel. Quebec made a exception for people checking on their secondary properties for maintenance. I’ll give you all a update come Thursday.

Back to the original question  ( AGAIN ) which asks about us Ontarians being able to fish.
From what I have gathered, yes you can fish with family members but and there are a lot of buts.

Launches are closing.
Marinas are only open to get customers boats ready.
You can not launch for recreational purposes.
You cannot fish out of your geographical zone.
Cops will not stop you randomly .
They may ask for I.D. if they catch you fishing and fine you for being out of your zone.

A lot of ifs and buts.
I guess you have to get caught.

It will look to obvious with five guys driving up the highway in one car or in one boat.

I know that this is our Rainbow opener weekend.
I will be going but only because I fish a private stretch of river with nobody on it.

I agree fishing is open, there was an article from ontario parks saying day fishing is open but no over night activities.  Household is going to be the big reason we would have people stopped and questioned if out in a boat or at a launch.  They definitely have the borders closed 5 police vehicles at the chenaux crossing up the road from my house yesterday and today.  Do we want to fish absolutely, should we, only you can answer that one.

I'm not the smartest guy in the room, but I'm no idiot either. I can see why you're frustrated...it's hard to make heads-or-tails of those rules. And really, much of it flies in the face of common sense.

At the beginning of this BS last late-March, a portion of my golf group were still golfing on Sunday (somehow golf courses got overlooked as everything else in the state was closed); all I said to them was, "A stay at home order is in place, that sounds to me like you're supposed to stay at home." And I did. I waited it out and by late-April they had the 'precautions' in place to play golf safely and the stay-at-home order had been lifted by then for a couple weeks. Maybe 'stay-at-home' order and 'lockdown' are the wrong terms, because in practice they're anything but those descriptions.

I don't know...something is whacky in the world when you can't get a haircut or go out to eat, but can go to a bait-n-tackle store and get wares to go fishing. I guess they're trying to avoid the  likelihood of an big SUV pulling a boat, stuffed with friends, aggregating at the launch. Are churches open? Are youth athletic programs (hockey, etc.) still running? Do people still "go into the office" for their work?

Some of these guys on other CDN fishing boards are off-the-chain upset because they can't decipher the rules, but in general believe they are NOT supposed to go fishing outside their immediate area (they think). Many say they're going to ignore the rules and do what they want. Seems to me that's the bulls-eye of the problem in the first place...

Wear a mask...stay 6+ feet apart...be smart about who you hangout with. It's really not that hard. I can't believe these words came out of my mouth the other day, but I told my son, "I'm not even sure I want to go up to Canada right now."

When words like that start flowing from my mouth it's a sad state of affairs, to be sure....

Embrace every moment...you only get it once

I read an interesting article today.
T-Bone you should google it.

Regarding the amount of international flights coming into Toronto's Pearson Airport
I thing it said 20 flights arriving from India and all flights were infested with COVID.
Do we turn the flight back...... NO.... unload the passengers and give them a big welcome hug.
This is a major problem.
We can't drive across the border alone but planes full of COVID are being welcomed into Toronto.
Something really wrong with this picture

Correct, India and Brazil flights continue to pour in with covid infested passengers.

You can see why cottagers, fishermen, people in general, are frustrated.

Well I was planning on going up Thursday. Got a phone call from my friend up there who talked to some locals. Border is CLOSED except for locals and workers.

Guess that’s it then, probably not going up till May.

Lanielkid.... so they are making their own rules at the border?  From the previous posting from Campkipawa  #1 Quebec exception was "people who have their principal residence there or who have to do maintenance work at their secondary residence;" Just curious as I am planning to go on Monday.  Please keep us updated if you hear anything different.  Thanks

I have been told that cottage owners have, and continue to cross without issue. I spoke with the QPP and they told me the rules are very clear, ie: cottagers can cross for maintenance to their secondary residences. They directed me to the website which I posted yesterday.
