Just want to correct a comment above.

Stores are open for on line shopping only at the moment; hardware stores are on line too but have opened...depending on the situation.
Restaurants vary from open for limited dinning to only open for take out again ....depending on the numbers.

Our family has made it a point to order take out once or twice a week since last summer to keep these guys viable.

Huge drop in Ontario cases yesterday- 1616, the recent peak was over 4800.  Things definitely headed in right direction.

Extrapolate out a month and you are around 500 cases, possibly lower because we have both the lockdown and vaccinations biting into that total. The last time we were there was 8 months ago. Also in Canada we are looking at a 80% + vaccination rate. It's over, except for the fat lady singing.  ;D

Not too sure where you are getting your stats from but currently we are sitting at 41% vaccination rate not 80%. Saw this on Your Morning, Canada's National Newscast.

https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/vaccination-coverage/#a2

May 8 as per this link, we were at 38.87%

-50% + of the adult population in Ontario.
-80% + of polled Canadians said they were likely to get vaccinated

limacharley

And 100% of Canadians polled want to win the lottery.

This is when the border will open.

That looks like viable intel to me....
And still doesn’t mean there won’t be caveats to said border crossing even when it does become possible.

That's a goofy response. I am reporting a fact and you seem to have difficulty with it.

This is when the border will open.

The full copy...which some didn't make to the online edited version of the content:

"Trudeau suggests Canada will need 75% vaccination rate before the border with the U.S. is open...unless someone funnels him and his family some big bucks, then it will open immediately."

Yep

Chazz

Border closure extended till June 21.  Not surprising.

Province lifts restrictions on non-urgent surgeries; Ontario reports 1,588 new cases.

Restrictions are slowly being lifted as we consistently hit new lows from our recent peak. Meanwhile probably today the % of Canadians who have had at least one shot will exceed that total for US citizens. Canadians are still clamouring for vaccines as we continue to ramp up daily totals. Perhaps that initial scarcity was a good thing. :)

It's over.

Chiara - I like your glass half full attitude.  Things are definitely headed in the right direction both up there and down here.  I am really hoping border opens prior to our planned trip week of July 24th.
