Warning! "Covid free discussion, where we pretend there's no pandemic and we all can go to and fro Kipawa without restrictions.  ;)"

I think its that time of year, where fantasying about summer and more importantly kipawa, is the thing to do. So when are you going to Kipawa, where are you staying at?

I will start off. I am booked for two trips this year at Alwaki. The first is very exciting for me, since my 9 & 6 year old grand sons will be joining me along with their fathers an my brother. Can't wait for that one and to have my grandsons experience the splendor of Kipawa and the lack of technology and civilization. The second trip will make my 4th September week long trip with just my wife and I where we put a 100% effort into eating, drinking, relaxing and a mix of fishing. I look so forward to being there every year, but this year even more. I made one trip last September and it just wasn't enough!

Last week of June at Kipawa Lodge.
2021’s post border opening mid-August trip the latest I’ve gone.  Fishing was great, zero complaints.  But looking forward to bit earlier in year to gain back some extra fishing time at both ends of the day.

Actually couple of us just talked last night of things needing done outside of food/kitchen/toiletry supply prep.
My list is quite small.  Need to sharpen fillet/boat knives and think time for new electric knife (or at least new blades).  Get a couple new pairs of fish gloves for in boat.  Purchase new reel for trolling as don’t have a backup I trust at the moment.  That’s really it.
After last years trip I went ahead and purchased replacement lures for ones the lake claimed.  Replaced hooks that’d been straightened and line on a reel.

Guess one of the perks of being a non-boat owner.  To-do list usually minimal outside of cabin supplies.

And yes, my mind’s drifted several times to actual fishing.  Mainly of spots/shorelines that I didn’t get around to hitting last year.

The longer day light hours sure do make for more opportunities to be on the water. I really missed our July trip the last couple of years.

I highly recommend going cordless if you are going to upgrade your electric. If you decide to go with a cordless filet knife, my Rapala works great, though I heard great things about the Bubba cordless, I wish I would have looked further into the Bubba before I bought the Rapala

I have the corded version of the Rapala and never had an issue w/it.  Just have had it long enough I don’t know if it’ll last another 10 yrs or if the next trip will be it’s last.  Def need new blades for it.  Thought of getting blades + a new knife to cover all bases.

Do the cordless ones just have a docking station, or have battery backup as well?

I’ve got the Berkeley electric one. Comes with two batteries so one can be charging and the other can be in the knife getting used.

It’s real nice for big fish, but I still prefer my Rapala filet knife.

We are June 11-18 @ Two Moon Lodge.
It has been since 2018 that we've been up there so definitely daydreaming of Kip.

Only 3 adults going this time so  planning on being on the water as much as possible.

For the filet knife discussion I got the Berkley Cordless about a year ago for Christmas and love it. Great for Two Moon as fish house is limited on electric.
Only thing I need is to get an extra battery for a backup!

120 days and counting!

Hello everyone, first time posting on the forum. We purchased a property in late 2018 on Kipawa. Still learning the lake but have been down to Alwaki and To the north end past Two Moon. Great fishing at both places. Today was in the garage doing some wood working and looked at the boat…took a pic and sent to my buddy down in Southern Ontario; the itch is there as we both retired last month. Counting down the days until the season opens and we can explore more areas of Lake Kipawa. It is certainly a beautiful Lake with great fishing! For those coming to visit, enjoy and may you have tight lines!! Cheers

I was just looking to ride your coattails @BigChief  ;D

As much as I dream about having a cabin in Kipawa, it's just is a bit impractical living so far away. Unfortunately!!!!

Well, we are planning to make the return trip to Watson Lake the week of July 23-30.  Man, I can't wait to pull into camp, crack a cold beer open and walk out on that dock.  I literally gives me butterflies in my tummy thinking about it!  ;D
