"Making Memories"

LanielKid

Have a Gen 1 dish mounted to the roof in Laniel.

Pros: Works great! Fast internet and it keeps going even when my Shaw fails.

Cons: Needs a good clear area to receive signal. Most trees will block it. Thankfully our roof is pretty unobstructed. And it’s expensive, like $120 CAD per month.

But yeah, overall I’m very happy to have it.

Same as above. Had nine since last Sept. I need the hardware for a roof mount. Mine is sitting on the ground. AS bit expensive but Love it. Nice to be able to stream some tv or other content. That was impossible with Explorenet.

Hey Joe,

I thought you were retired - what are you doing up at 5:13 AM?

Have a great day!

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Just a bad old habit. Too many years of conditioning lol. Besides, John is right, I love early morning trolls. Put on some coffee and go.

Thanks guys.  I think the monthly price is good if you can hook up your TV to the Starlink

That  way I can cancel the Bell dish

I do have a lot of trees on my lot but i likely could put up a post on the beach or dock

You need a clear view of the north sky.

Yup. On our south facing deck it worked, but once we mounted it to the north end of the house on the roof it works twice as fast and doesn’t looses signal very rarely now.

puckster_guy

My dish is sitting on the ground with an good view of the north sky. I want to mount it close to the peak of the roof. That way I don't hurt the cord with the lawn mower lol  ;D and a better view of the sky.

North, West and South sky no problem

It is the East that has some trees and might have issues

Need to find out

Just ordered my StarLink dish.
Anyone put it up themselves?? Is it straightforward?
What direction does the dish face?

Easy as pi. Download the app. Set the dish anywhere, on the ground, bolt it to a post or the side of your house. Make sure you have a clear view of the north sky. run the cable inside. Connect the power cord and the dish cable and the modem/wifi router. Turn it on. Monitor it with the app. Then Bob's your uncle. Very high speed internet.
If I can do it anybody can lol. ;D

Certainly a game changer; great app on the Apple phone to test your property out before you purchase; it’ll provide you with potential signal and outages. We mounted on top of the wood shed, best spot with the least signal breaks. Over 130 mps download speed, upload this morning at 14 mps. As for set up…best dish ever. Plug and play it finds the satellite for you!!!
Good luck…
