Hi everyone,
Is it me or is the latest release of Rapala fillet knives lousy?
So I ask, what fillet knife do you use and size? Walleye and pike.

Also any feedback on electric knives is appreciated.

Tight lines.

I bought the Bubba 4 blade cordless electric set for this year's trip and it worked great. It's a little pricey, but worth it.

I started using the Rapala electric knife last year and it works good, on/off switch was sticking last weekend so I give it a good scrubbing so hopefully stop sticking but other than that it's quick

I use the BUCK folding knife

If you want something pricy and personal, I ordered a custom Filet Knife from  SEGUIN custom knife maker in Quebec.
You can pick a knife from his website and he will engrave your name on it for a small fee.
Very expensive but worth every penny.

The CUDA folding knife also looks good.

I have had my eye on the BUBBA Cordless kit

Hi everyone,

I believe everyone has their own opinion and I respect that.

For a little over 50 years, I used a blade to fillet fish. Then in the early 2000s, an outfitter at The Gouin Reservoir requested that my partner and I each bring back a limit of 8 walleye for a camp fish fry. As we returned to the dock, all I was thinking about was filleting 16 walleye. Well was I ever wrong! The outfitter met us at the dock and took our walleye to the fishing cleaning house. He reached into a cupboard and pulled out a Rapala electric fillet knife. I was simply amazed at how quickly he could fillet walleye - 30 to 40 seconds per walleye. After I returned home, I purchased a Rapala Deluxe Electric Fillet Knife and I haven't used anything else since to fillet fish. While I'm sure other brands do an equally good job, I'm happy with this one. I'm looking forward to filleting some walleye.

Like Jay said, you just can’t beat the electric. I have the Raplla electric cordless, it’s not the most rugged thing in the world but it works good and make short work of fish. I’ve heard great things about the Bubba knife and saw the price drop on Amazon to around $148 USD and was ready to hit the buy button until I started reading the reviews on Amazon which weren’t great. I wasn’t sure if they did some redesign or that sort of thing that people were bagging on. I’m unsure. If my son-in-law’s continue to go to Kipawa with me, I will be purchasing another cordless electric, Maybe a Bubba. Either way, and electric fillet knife will make your life much better if you wanna make short work of filleting fish

I have an Uncle Henry filet knife that I’ve had for probably 30 years. No electric filet knife here, thanks! (Being a knife curmudgeon.)

Electric is tempting.
I saw a youtube video of the cordless Rapala vs the cordless Bubba. The Rap was the better knife. The main difference is the rap gets full power from the battery right away where the Bubba did not.

I am a bit of a knife snob, but that rap cordless is calling my name. My only issue with these cordless knives is that it is really hard to sharpen those blades, so you end up buying them. not sure how long they last and how much replacements cost.  I will need to look it up.

This video from 3 seasons camp shows the wonder of the electric well. I think @Jay Thomas was first to post this, thanks Jay

I would jump at the Bubba at 148 dollars
It's around 280 up here

I might just pull the trigger
I just went to Cabela Canada.

The Bubba pro kit is 260 dollars Canadian

Bubba has another lithium package regular 199 on sale right now for 139
Minus a 50 dollar gift card that I have , it starts to look very inviting.

The Bubba kit is great. It comes with 4 different blades and 2 batteries. We used the smaller blades to fillet and it worked really well.
